Building CSR strategy to increase business competitiveness

To help business to understand the importance of CSR for business strategy, Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) and DuPont Corporation co-funded and co-organized a training workshop on "Building CSR strategy to increase business competitiveness". Training workshop took place on 24th May 2012, at the ballroom of the 165 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia guest house, Ho Chi Minh city. The keynote speaker was Ms. Panchanit Roatamornsawat, Director of Public Relations, DuPont, in Thailand and Vietnam.
 
Participants in the workshop were 51 representatives from business sectors: food, garment, footwear, and transport; from Ho Chi Minh city, Long An, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Can Tho.
 
At the workshop, Ms. Panchanit presented the ways to building CSR strategy for business.
 
Some good practices were shared by representatives from OneStep Vietnam company and FPT Corporation. Mr. Quách Vĩnh Thắng , (One Step Vietnam) shared his experiences in working with other businesses in the process of building business CSR programs in Vietnam, advantages, disadvantages and challenges that businesses are facing. Ms. Truong Thi Thanh Thanh, founding member of FPT Corporation, FPT Ho Chi Minh City Manager, presented the experience in the development and implementation of CSR strategy of FPT, steering FPT to implement CSR activities in various fields, such as business sustainable development and contribution to national prosperity, budget, legal compliance, business ethics, commitment to customers, ensuring benefits for employees.
 
The collaboration of international business keynote speakers with business managers in Vietnam has resulted in high quality and appreciation of participants.
