Regional CSR Conference

The Regional CSR Conference themed "Corporate Social Responsibility practice towards Sustainable Development” was held at Vung Tau City on 21 November 2012 with the co-ordination of Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) under Vietnam Chamber of Commerce & Industry (VCCI), UNIDO together with VCCI – Vung Tau Branch within the framework of the project “Helping Vietnamese SMEs Adapt and Adopt Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for Improved Linkages with Global Supply Chains in Sustainable Production” funded by European Union (EU).The event attracted more than 90 participants from SMEs, organizations, local departments, National and International CSR Experts, and Media and Press agencies.
                                                                                                                                       
At the conference, domestic and international experts discussed with the participants about Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the economic, environmental and social fields such as CSR – Current issue of responsible business, Seafood processing enterprises and CSR; Using local culture, tradition and know-how as a driver for innovation and job-creation in Cao Bằng Province, UNIDO reap26 program, and CSR experiences in the Petro-Industry. This is the first time CSR Marketplace – experience the scope of ISO26000 present at a CSR conference as well as marketplace like this one.
 
                                             
The experts stressed that businesses should view CSR as a long-term strategy.  A strategic approach to CSR is increasingly important to the competitiveness of enterprises, helping them to create value for both owners and shareholders … to win the trust and respect of citizens, partners in particularly and society in general.
                          
                                             
The CSR Local Advisor Training Program will be launched in December 2012 with registration from SMEs in Vung Tau to raise awareness and understanding of companies and organizations and at the same time educate national experts, including local advisors.
