The Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) in cooperation with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Thanh Hoa Branch (VCCI Thanh Hoa) organised a training course on “Lean manufacturing - solutions to waste elimination and productivity improvement in business” in Thanh Hoa province from 23rd to 24th May, 2015. Lean production system is a systematically, continuously improved methodology aimed to create added values for customers, eliminate wastes in production/provision of corporate services/goods, thus helping minimise costs and optimise the use of resources to reduce the time and cycle of production/provision of services/goods and simultaneously increase the flexible response to ever-changing and stricter requirements from customers.
The training course aimed to equip trainees with basic knowledge of lean production system and help them understand Lean benefits and necessity and know how to organise and implement Lean application projects in enterprises. The course drew the participation of 60 executives and officials in charge of personnel, manufacturing, quality, and product research from Thanh Hoa province-based businesses. The classes also provided a forum for trainees to practice and exchange experience in every content of the course, and share and accumulate experience in quality improvement in businesses.

Following the award of USD 2.5 million to the first eight companies in October 2013, VBCF has decided to invest an additional funding of USD 6.5 million to 13 innovative and inclusive business ventures in three focus areas, including agriculture (42%), low carbon growth (33%), infrastructure and basic services (25%)
