Hai Duong, March 17, 2022: SCG (one of the leading conglomerates in the ASEAN region) today announced their newest support for COVID-19 relief and response in Vietnam as the country resumes socio-economic activities and embraces the new normal. Accordingly, SCGcollaborated with the Hai Duong Provincial Youth Union to award 10 sets of hand wash sinks valued at 147 million VND to 10 schools in Hai Duong province. The support aims to reduce the probability of COVID-19 spread as well as to raise awareness about healthcare among students while they are returning to schools.
The latest donation from SCG is aligned with their mission of “SCG together to fight the COVID-19 pandemic”. Designed and constructed by Prime Group (subsidiaries of Cement - Building Material Business of SCG), the hand wash sinks come with extra instructions on how to correctly wash hands according to the Ministry of Health on pandemic preventive measures with the 5T message. The sinks help upgrade sanitation facilities at schools whilst improving hygiene behavior and practices of students and thus preventing transmission of the disease. The donation valued 147million VND was awarded to 10 schools in Hai Duong province including: Sao Do University, Hai Duong Vocational Training College, Hai Duong University, College of Tourism, Industry and Trade, Mac Dinh Chi High school, Tu Ky Town Primary school, Cam Giang Secondary school, Tam Ky Secondary school, Hong Phong Primary school, Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center. And today, Sao Do University, Hai Duong Vocational Training College will be the 02 first schools to get the handover.

We hope that through our efforts in improving the public health, particularly while students are returning to school in the new- normal condition, our communities will gradually adjust to living with COVID-19 safely," said Mr. Piyapong Jriyasetapong, General Director of SCG Vietnam.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), to stop the spread of COVID-19, along with other COVID appropriate behaviors, the practice of handwashing at regular intervals is a must. Hand hygiene, a very simple action, is well accepted to be one of the primary modes of reducing health care-associated infection and of enhancing patient safety. With these hand wash sinks, SCG hopes to raise awareness about the importance of regular and effective handwashing, to educate students about pandemic prevention, to promote personal hygiene practices among them, and to encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Since COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic, SCG has strongly committed to uplifting the communities and delivering a better life to the people of Vietnam through its variety of sustained efforts. Prior to this latest donation, SCG and SCGP (Packaging Business of SCG) also supported Hai Duong province with 10,000 high-quality paper boxes to aid the shipment of commodities to remote places and 100 paper beds for provincial field hospitals together with 2 positive pressure chambers and 200 million VND.

More than 150 participating STEM students from six engineering and technology universities concluded their five-month program following the Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) curriculum model. Ho Chi Minh, January 7th, 2022: In 2021, the ASEAN leading conglomerate SCG and Long Son Petrochemicals Co., Ltd (LSP), a subsidiary of SCG Chemicals, continues to reinforce its commitment to sustainable development in Vietnam by implementing the Waste Rescue project to raise the young generation's awareness about waste segregation. Previously, SCG and LSP have piloted waste segregation at source at Long Son primary schools in Ba Ria-Vung Tau to educate students in waste segregation and call for the response of families and schools so that the concept of waste segregation can be replicated in the community. Continuing the success of the previous year, this project is part of the enterprise’s efforts to tie up with the Vietnamese young generation to adopt a circular economy to solve the problem of mismanaged waste in the country.
