23 May 2023, Espoo, Finland – Nokia today announced the first deployment of 10G fiber broadband in Vietnam with operator Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT). The initial rollout will connect 10,000 homes and businesses in the 8 largest provinces of the country. Nokia is providing fiber access nodes for the operator’s exchanges and fiber modems for end users’ premises.
Fiber broadband is being rolled out rapidly in Vietnam. In September 2021, the country’s Ministry of Information and Communications launched the National Digital Transformation Programme with the goal that fiber internet infrastructure should cover 80 percent of households and 100 percent of communes by 2025.
According to Global Data’s Vietnam Telecom Operators Country Intelligent Report, VNPT is the market leader with 39.5% of the market in 2022. As well as home internet, the operator offers mobile and pay-tv services. Moving to a multi-gig network will help VNPT differentiate its services and maintain its leadership position.
With this new technology, VNPT will be able to offer customers a full choice of speeds up to 10 Gb/s on the existing platform without the need for construction work to lay new fiber.

Next step, VNPT will work with Nokia to deploy cloud-based network management systems for the XGS-PON and enhance customer experiences through digital transformation solutions.”

Nokia 7360-FX Lightspan series access node (OLT)
Nokia 7360-FX Lightspan is a high-capacity access node for massive scale fiber rollouts. Usually located in telecom central office, it connects thousands of users via optical fiber, aggregates their broadband traffic and sends it deeper in the network. The fiber access node supports multiple fiber technologies including GPON, XGS-PON, 25GS-PON and Point-to-Point Ethernet to deliver a wide range of services with the best fit technology.
Nokia Quillion Chipset
The Quillion chipset now has more than 250 operator customers around the world. Designed to offer multi-PON capabilities with GPON, XGS-PON and 25G PON all running on the same fiber, Quillion also reduces energy consumption, with 50% less power needed in fiber installations than previous generations which comfortably beats EU Codes of Conduct for Broadband Communication Equipment targets and helps operators to meet their emissions goals.
In late April, the factory of BAT Vietnam in Dong Nai achieved PAS2060 carbon neutral verification for Scope 1 & 2 emissions carried out by Totum Institute (Brazil). SABECO PROMOTES SOLAR ENERGY TO ACHIEVE NET ZERO EMISSION BY 2050
On the occasion of the 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2023), in two days from May 18 to 19, 2023, a representative of the Board of Directors of C.P Vietnam Corporation (CPV) participated in the launching ceremonies of 'Eternal gratitude to Uncle Ho' tree-planting campaign and the Prime Minister's program to plant 1 billion trees "For a green Vietnam" in two provinces of Dong Thap and Dong Nai.
Many businesses and locals are involved in the cultivation and purchase of tobacco leaves in Krong Pa, Gia Lai - where BAT has one of the largest leaf-growing areas in Vietnam. This plant has helped 700-800 households earn a better living for many years.
In March, BAT-Vinataba JV visited the leaf-growing area in Gia Lai, one of the largest leaf-growing areas in Vietnam. Along with BAT-Vinataba JV, the trip included representatives from a number of government departments and organizations, such as the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Committee for Management of State Capital, Vietnam Tobacco Association, Vinataba, and other stakeholders.
In March, BAT Vietnam held a ceremony to summarize the “Women’s Empowerment” program and continued to disburse a sponsoring loan for disadvantaged women in Duc Hue District, Long An Province. The successes of the program achieved in 2022 have provided BAT with a strong incentive to continue the program for many years to come, helping disadvantaged women improve their livelihoods.
