Support Corporate Sustainability

Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) Executive Board and its members held a working session with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan on 15^th January to report VBCSD activities over the last six months of 2012 and listened to the guidance, orientation by the Deputy Prime Minister. This is the meeting took place every 06 months.

Vice Executive President Doan Duy Khuong and VBCSD co-Chair reported that in 2012 VBCSD has effectively carried out main activities: awareness raising, training, research, close collaboration with ministries, sectors, organizations and localities and international relations expansion. In 2013, VBCSD will further implement sustainable development activities; at the same time extend some operations in business competitiveness.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Ninh, Director of Centre for Environment Research Education and Development shared his experience in sustainable development, namely in agriculture, working groups on energy in collaboration with Germany, Japan,… and a tentative workshop on business sustainability co-host by Kien Giang leadership.

VBCSD members such as Novartis, SNV, Intel shared their related operations in collaboration with VBCSD, including initiatives on raising awareness among businesses, inclusive business, and renewable energy…

The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed VBCSD initiatives last year and shared 02 key points of the government in 2013, which are launching surveys to find out best practices in business in the field of sustainable development and enhancing the cooperation with foreign entities operating in Vietnam.
