I. PROGRAM OVERVIEW
In the context of climate change continuing to pose a global challenge and countries accelerating their emission reduction commitments, achieving net-zero emissions has become a strategic development direction. Vietnam, with its commitment to reaching Net Zero by 2050, is progressively improving its institutional framework and promoting a transition toward green growth and sustainable development.
Green transition and energy transformation, along with the promotion of practical solutions for the Net Zero journey, are not only urgent environmental requirements but also opportunities to enhance competitiveness, attract investment, and create new growth drivers—especially for a developing economy like Vietnam that is highly vulnerable to climate change and is entering a new phase of development requiring rapid, sustainable, and inclusive growth.
Against this backdrop, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), through the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) as the patron, in coordination with the World Energy Council Vietnam (WEC Vietnam), is organizing the 1st World Energy and Environment Forum – Vietnam, under the theme: “Vietnam's Pathway to Net Zero.”
The Program will serve as a platform for businesses, domestic and international organizations, ministries, and local authorities to engage in direct dialogue, exchange insights on achievements and policy gaps in implementing emission reduction commitments and enhance green business practices. It also aims to contribute to national green growth and sustainable development, while discussing and proposing solutions to encourage businesses and localities to become proactive stakeholders in achieving Net Zero.
VCCI has issued an official invitation for enterprises/organizations to participate in the Program (see HERE).
Scheduled to take place on June, 2026 in Hanoi, the Program will include:
(i) The Forum: “World Energy and Environment – Vietnam”
(ii) Evaluation and Recognition Program: “Sustainable Green Energy and Environment in Vietnam” based on WEC criteria
(iii) Exhibition: “Green Path – Net Zero Vietnam”
Within the framework of the Program, the Launching Ceremony was held on March 20 in Hanoi. At the event, the Organizing Committee introduced the overall program, presented the evaluation criteria framework and implementation orientation, and gathered feedback from experts and businesses on opportunities and challenges in the green transition process.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice President of VCCI and Chairman of VBCSD, stated: “The Forum is expected to serve as a multi-stakeholder platform to promote concrete actions from the business community in realizing Net Zero, particularly through initiatives in energy and environment. VCCI is committed to accompanying enterprises in transitioning toward green growth models, enhancing competitiveness, and deepening international integration. I firmly believe that sustainable and responsible business practices will be a key driver for national economic growth in this new era.”

II. INTRODUCTION TO THE EVALUATION AND RECOGNITION PROGRAM: “SUSTAINABLE GREEN ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT IN VIETNAM”
The Program is developed based on references to tools, assessment frameworks, and publications from the World Energy Council (WEC), combined with VCCI’s implementation experience in Vietnam. It aims to establish a set of evaluation criteria for each category, with a strong emphasis on quantitative assessment across indicators such as emission reduction, socio-economic efficiency, technological innovation, and sustainable development impact.
Through the evaluation and recognition activities, the Program seeks to encourage green investment, foster innovation, and strengthen international cooperation—thereby promoting a fair, efficient, and sustainable energy transition in Vietnam.
