On October 10, 2026, at the People’s Committee Hall of Binh Duong Commune, Gia Lai Province, the Forestry and Forest Protection Department, in coordination with C.P. Vietnam Corporation (C.P. Vietnam) and the Gia Lai Department of Agriculture and Environment, held the “Ceremony to Donate Trees to Gia Lai Province for 2026-2027.” The event was part of the “C.P. Vietnam – Journey for a Green Vietnam” program for 2026-2030.

The tree donation ceremony in Gia Lai Province
C.P. Vietnam donated 150,000 tree seedlings to Gia Lai Province, to be delivered over 2026-2027. Of these, 76,072 seedlings were provided in 2026 and allocated to 45 communes and wards, including species such as black sao, golden shower, dầu rái, and yellow gáo. Attendees included Mr. Nguyen Van Dien, Deputy Director General of the Forestry and Forest Protection Department; Mr. Nguyen Van Hoan, Deputy Director of the Gia Lai Department of Agriculture and Environment; Mr. Vo Dinh Son, Member of the Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Binh Duong Commune; representatives of the Vietnam Youth Federation of Gia Lai Province; and representatives of C.P. Vietnam, together with more than 100 delegates. The delegates planted trees along the local road.
Continuing the commitment to plant 3 million trees
The Gia Lai event is a concrete step in implementing the Memorandum of Understanding signed between C.P. Vietnam and the Forestry and Forest Protection Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) on June 16, 2026, in Lang Son Province, during the rally marking the 2026 World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought. This is the second tree donation under this cooperation.

Trees supported by C.P. Vietnam at the event
Under the MoU, C.P. Vietnam has committed to supporting the planting of about 1.5 million trees nationwide in 2026-2030, with an estimated total budget of around VND 35 billion. This commitment builds on the 2021-2025 period, when the company achieved its target of 1.5 million trees at its factories, farms, and many community areas. Together, the two phases aim for 3 million trees over 2021-2030.
In the new phase, the project prioritizes provinces in the North, Central, and South, and extends to areas that need forest restoration and scattered tree planting, especially arid regions and sites with difficult land conditions. The cooperation covers providing seedlings to localities that need them for reforestation, co-organizing annual activities in response to the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, and offering technical guidance on tree planting, forest care, and ecosystem restoration.
Contributing to combating desertification and land degradation
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Dien, Deputy Director General of the Forestry and Forest Protection Department, said that nearly 11.8 million hectares of land, equal to 36% of the country’s natural land area, are degraded to varying degrees. In his view, combating desertification and protecting the environment should be regarded as a core part of national security and human security.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dien, Deputy Director General of the Forestry and Forest Protection Department, speaks at the event
The Deputy Director General praised C.P. Vietnam’s social responsibility and practical support. He said the company’s pioneering role not only brings green seedlings but also spreads a message of “joining hands and acting in unison” among businesses, state management agencies, and local authorities. According to him, each tree planted today is “a commitment to action” and a legacy that protects soil and water for future generations.
Representing C.P. Vietnam, Mr. Le Dinh Truong, Manager of the Swine Business in Central Vietnam, said that with more than 33 years of operation in Vietnam, the company has always believed that “business growth must go hand in hand with the development of society and the environment.” He noted that the program’s success is measured not only by the number of trees planted but also by whether these seedlings keep growing, helping to conserve ecosystems, enhance biodiversity, and support the National Action Program to Combat Desertification.

Trees planted, trees cared for
Through coordination among management agencies, the business, and local authorities, 76,072 seedlings will be planted along roads, at school sites, at village People’s Committee offices, and at village cultural houses. Mr. Vo Dinh Son, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Binh Duong Commune, said the commune will use the donated trees for their intended purpose and recipients, plant them in the right locations, and care for them over the long term. The commune assigns specific agencies, villages, and individuals to look after and protect the trees after planting, regularly checks their growth, and promotes public awareness so that tree planting becomes a regular and sustainable movement.

Delegates and local residents take part in planting trees at the event
This activity contributes to forest planting funds, increases green cover, strengthens biodiversity, and helps restore ecosystems. Through it, C.P. Vietnam makes a practical contribution to national goals on the environment, green growth, and the circular economy, and spreads a sense of corporate responsibility for a green Vietnam and sustainable development for today and for future generations.
Every tree planted and nurtured today is a hope being cultivated, so that the green continues to grow with the community and with generations to come.
