Update on the “Dialogue@Work Vietnam” Project

In July and August 2015, the Project consulted and supported the successful organisation of worker meetings for six member factories. These events, part of the working agenda of the Project, were aimed to realise the provisions on workplace democracy regime specified in the Labour Code. With the representative presence of local labour unions, worker representatives elected members to the Dialogue Team which will join regular dialogues at their factories. Started within the scope of the Project, the roles and functions of members of the Dialogue Team are now officially recognised by the law. The fruits accrued from the ongoing efforts of the Project coupled with the close cooperation from factories concerned and the support of local labour unions.
In addition, the Project hosted two training courses from 7th to 12th September, 2015 in Ho Chi Minh City to equip basic knowledge and skills for the newly elected members of the Dialogue Team. Although the three-day courses affected their factory work, all trainees attended the courses seriously and responded to follow-on drills very positively. According to the plan, the next training in dialogues and negotiations for executives and members of the Dialogue Team is scheduled to be held from 28th to 30th September, 2015 in Ho Chi Minh City.
