SOLVE FOR TOMORROW 2021” OFFICIALLY KICKS OFF: SAMSUNG EMPOWERING YOUNG PIONEER GENERATION TO MAKE POSITIVE CHANGES TO THEIR COMMUNITIES

[Ho Chi Minh City, April 15, 2021] - Samsung Vina Electronics (SAVINA), Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) and Junior Achievement Vietnam (JA Vietnam) have joined together to organize the “Solve for Tomorrow 2021” competition in order to encourage students to apply technology in providing solutions to their local community problems.

Solve for Tomorrow 2021 aims at nationwide secondary and high school students with age ranging from 12 to 18 years old. The competition is divided into two categories – secondary school and high school. The theme of this year's competition is applying STEM education into the students’ research, as well as coming up with creative ideas to solve societal or local problems related to one of four areas: Society, Environment, Education and Healthcare.

Mr. Joo Ho Choi, President of Samsung Vietnam Complex, stated: “Samsung Vietnam is proud to always accompany young Vietnamese in their journey of personal development and discovery. The contest "Solve for Tomorrow 2021" is expected to be a rewarding playground, helping young people to show their interest in science, develop creative thinking, express their personal responsibility to the urgent problems of community. This contest is one of a series of activities aimed at giving opportunities and arousing the potential of the community in accordance with the spirit and foundation of Samsung's global vision for CSR ‘Enabling People’.”

Mr. Kevin Lee, President of Samsung Vina said: “We at Samsung believe in our future generation. They will be the ones to set the foundation for major societal changes. The purposes of “Solve for Tomorrow” are to provide opportunities for young talents to demonstrate their responsibility, foster creativity and encourage them to apply technology in creating positive changes to our communities”.

Ms. Bich Ngoc Doan, CEO of JA Vietnam further emphasized: “STEM is an important part of education development in Vietnam. ‘Solve for Tomorrow 2021’ will provide an excellent opportunity for students to gain a better understanding of science, technology and how to innovatively apply them into their real life. We hope that the contest will lay the groundwork for the future of our nation to confidently implement their passion and become more aware of their role in building and supporting our community”.

Students participating in “Solve for Tomorrow 2021” will be organized into teams consisting of 2-4 students and 1 teacher. One of the main differences for this year's competition is that the teams will be divided into two categories: Category A is for secondary school students while Category B is for high school students. This adjustment will allow students of different age groups to freely create and apply knowledge learned at school to their projects.

More than simply being a competition, “Solve for Tomorrow 2021” is also a training platform where students and teachers are provided with valuable knowledge as well as crucial soft skills including Design Thinking, Problem-Solving, Project Management, Time Management, Creative Thinking, Teamwork, Presentation and Research Method. All of these factors will help teachers and students improve their ability to research, draft ideas and present their own projects.
