Nestlé MILO inaugurates project ’10 Golden Yeas of Kid Development, Don’t Miss Out’ for a healthier Vietnamese generation

Ho Chi Minh City, 1 June 2021 - According to latest scientific information studied and consolidated by Nestlé Research Center, between the ages of 5 and 15, the kids experience a significant transformation of body, brain and behaviour, which marks a transition from being a child to being an adult. In order to widespread this information to the public, Nestlé MILO has officially inaugurated the project ’10 Golden Years of Kid Development, Don’t Miss Out’, partnering with VTV Digital to raise awareness of parents over the importance of this golden period.

The project aims at bringing valuable information and knowledge, so that Vietnamese parents can realize the importance of 10 golden years. According to Nestlé Research Center, the kids see a significant development in conscious skill, skeletal muscle, immunity and brain between the ages of 5 and 15. These changes are vital for kids to achieve maximum potential when they grow up, whether being an individual or a part of the society. Nestlé’s scientists emphasized that every selections of nutrition, energy and physical activity in this period are decisive to the future development of kids. Based on reliable scientific foundation, the project ’10 Golden Yeas of Kid Development, Don’t Miss Out’ also helps tackle nutrition issues of school kids in Vietnam such as obesity and malnutrition.

Dr. Bui Thi Nhung, Head of School Kid’s Nutrition and Career Department at National Institute  of Nutrition expressed: “Based on recent years’ researches on Vietnamese nutrition, there has been a large number of school kids who suffer from obesity due to imbalance diet and overly fast food consumption. Meanwhile, many other kids faces malnutrition despite Vietnamese’s standard living is now much better than many years ago. These numbers raise alarm on severe issues of nutrition among school kids in Vietnam that are needed to be tackled”.

Dr. Do Thi Ngoc Diep, Vice Head of Vietnam Nutrition Association said: ‘Vietnamese parents still have limitations in proper practices in nutrition, energy and physical activities for kids during 10 golden years. Many parents thinks that their kids can proactively control their meals when entering school ages and will grow up strongly. This is not right. If parents are aware of the importance of this golden period, they will pay more attention in nurturing kids’.

Mr. Ali Abbas, Director of MILO and Dairy Products, Nestle Vietnam expressed: “Nestlé MILO is a familiar brand with Vietnamese kids at school ages. Over past 25 years, many generations have grown up with MILO’s products and sport activities. To date, over 11 MILO cups were provided and 2.5 million kids participated in MILO’s sport activities. In the project ’10 Golden Yeas of Kid Development, Don’t Miss Out’, Nestlé MILO wants to collaborate with nutrition experts and relevant authorities to help improve the physical health of Vietnamese people”.

Along with on-going Activ Vietnam program, ’10 Golden Yeas of Kid Development, Don’t Miss Out’ is an effort of Nestlé MILO to respond the government agenda on public health for 2021-2030 with a vision towards 2040.

Mr. Le Quang Minh, Director of VTV Digital said: ‘We are glad to partner with Nestlé MILO in this meaningful project. We will bring useful information and solution to the public, by which the parents and kids can keep ahead of 10 golden years’.

Nestlé MILO will leverage the project ’10 Golden Yeas of Kid Development, Don’t Miss Out’ to make positive impact to young generation of Vietnam, with the commitment of bringing quality nutrition products and expanding sport activities. The project will help change the mindset of Vietnamese parents about 10 golden years, so as to address nutrition issues of school kids in Vietnam.
