On May 24 and 25, 2022, Samsung Vietnam cooperates with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize the Kick-off Ceremony of the Smart Factory Cooperation Project for 14 enterprises in the provinces of Bac Ninh, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, Hung Yen and Ha Nam.

Attending the project kick-off ceremony, on the side of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, there were Mr. Do Thang Hai - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade; Ms. Nguyen Huong Giang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh Province; Mr. Vu Chi Giang - Vice Chairman of Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee and representatives of businesses participating in the support project.
On the side of Samsung Vietnam, Mr. Choi Joo Ho – President of Samsung Vietnam Complex, Mr. Choi Kyoung Soo - Deputy General Director in charge of the Purchasing Center and representatives of a number of related departments.
The first phase of the smart factory development cooperation project in 2022 (first 6 months of 2022) will have 14 enterprises participating, including: 07 enterprises in Bac Ninh province, 02 enterprises in Vinh Phuc province, 03 enterprises in Hanoi city, 01 enterprise in Hung Yen province and 01 enterprise in Ha Nam province.

Participating in the project, experts will assess the current operating situation of the enterprise's factory according to smart factory standards. Based on the evaluation results, businesses will be supported with advice on setting up smart factories.
For example, An Phu Viet Plastic Co., Ltd located in Hung Yen province. Currently, production and plant operations data is being collected locally by this enterprise. The project is expected to support An Phu Viet in setting up a smart factory by helping to build a “Stage Management System” that allows real-time management of output/quality and equipment, moving towards digitization of the factory.
Also within the framework of the project, Samsung will conduct training for Vietnamese consultants in the field of smart factories through a 12-week training course including 03 weeks of theoretical training and 09 weeks of practical training to help professionals acquire knowledge and improve consulting capacity related to smart factory setup.
Especially, during 9 weeks of practice, Vietnamese consultants and Korean Samsung consultants will directly participate in surveying, evaluating and consulting businesses in the field.
Currently, Samsung is training about 30 consultants.
This year, Samsung is expected to advise and support the development of smart factories for a total of 26 businesses and train 50 consultants in the field of smart factories.
Through this project, Samsung wishes to support Vietnamese enterprises to improve their competitiveness according to global standards in all processes such as research, production, etc., thereby supporting businesses to have more opportunities to participate in the supply chain of not only Samsung but also the global supply network.
Speaking at the Kick-off Ceremony, Mr. Do Thang Hai - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade said that " In order to realize the goal of industrialization and modernization of the country, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has actively implemented cooperation programs with multinational corporations and large FDI enterprises in Vietnam to improve the quality of human resources and competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises in the field of manufacturing, processing and supporting industries. In particular, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has cooperated with Samsung to implement programs such as training consultants, consulting improvement for Vietnamese enterprises, training mold experts, etc. The above programs have been bringing positive signals to Vietnam's industry in general and supporting industries in particular. These cooperation projects have far-reaching effects, helping domestic enterprises increase their opportunities to participate in the global supply chain.”

Since 2015, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Samsung have cooperated to implement an improvement consulting program to improve competitiveness for 379 Vietnamese enterprises. During the period 2018-2021, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Samsung trained 406 experts in supporting industries in Vietnam. In addition, realizing the importance of the mold field in industrial production, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Samsung continued to implement a project to train 200 mold technicians in the period of 2020 - 2023. Through efforts to find suppliers, the number of Samsung tier-1 enterprises has increased sharply. In 2014, the number of tier-1 enterprises was only 4, this number has increased to 51 enterprises by the end of 2021. Along with that, the number of tier-2 enterprises also reached 203 enterprises.
On May 10, 2022, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ben Tre province held "the conference of 1 year of implementation of the Ben Tre plant project and implementation of the project in 2022" at the Office of the Provincial People's Committee.
