Espoo, Finland – Nokia today announced its 2022 sustainability report outlining its performance relating to the company’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy. The ESG strategy consists of the five following strategic focus areas: Environment, Industrial Digitalization, Security & Privacy, Bridging the Digital Divide, and Responsible Business. Nokia’s ESG strategy aims to maximize impact in the areas most material to the company and its stakeholders and is integral to the technology and business decisions it takes.
Melissa Schoeb, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Nokia, said: “At Nokia, we believe that there can be no green without digital. Our objective is to develop ESG into a competitive advantage by leveraging our technology and portfolio strengths to maximize our positive impact on industries, society and the environment. We believe that digitalization and enhanced connectivity will be crucial in the response to climate change through more efficient use and re-use of the world’s resources; to the digital divide through more inclusive access globally to work, healthcare, education and public services; and to stalling productivity by bringing asset-intensive physical industries into the digital future.”

The technology that Nokia provides can enable both environmental and social benefits to industries, communities and individuals. At the same time, the company continually focuses on minimizing any potential negative impacts of its technology. In early 2023, Nokia launched a Sustainable Finance Framework that underscores the importance of ESG to its business and financing structure. Nokia successfully completed an inaugural 500 million Euro sustainability-linked bond issuance with a maturity of over 8 years with positive feedback from the investor community.
Nokia’s People and Planet 2022 report is prepared in accordance with the GRI Standards. As part of its reporting, Nokia also recognizes other sustainability reporting frameworks, such as SASB Standards and the UN Global Compact. Nokia’s key sustainability indicators have been assured by Deloitte, an independent auditor as detailed in the report.

13 March 2023, Espoo, Finland – Nokia today announced it has been chosen as one of the “World’s Most Ethical Companies®” by Ethisphere. In 2023, 135 honorees were recognized spanning 19 countries and 46 industries. Nokia is one of two winners in the telecommunications industry and the only Finnish company to be honored.
23 May 2023, Espoo, Finland – Nokia today announced the first deployment of 10G fiber broadband in Vietnam with operator Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT). The initial rollout will connect 10,000 homes and businesses in the 8 largest provinces of the country. Nokia is providing fiber access nodes for the operator’s exchanges and fiber modems for end users’ premises.
In late April, the factory of BAT Vietnam in Dong Nai achieved PAS2060 carbon neutral verification for Scope 1 & 2 emissions carried out by Totum Institute (Brazil). This is a testament to the fact that BAT Vietnam is persisting with its goal of reducing carbon emissions in our direct operatoins to create a sustainable future and protect the environment in Vietnam.
SABECO PROMOTES SOLAR ENERGY TO ACHIEVE NET ZERO EMISSION BY 2050
On the occasion of the 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2023), in two days from May 18 to 19, 2023, a representative of the Board of Directors of C.P Vietnam Corporation (CPV) participated in the launching ceremonies of 'Eternal gratitude to Uncle Ho' tree-planting campaign and the Prime Minister's program to plant 1 billion trees "For a green Vietnam" in two provinces of Dong Thap and Dong Nai.
Many businesses and locals are involved in the cultivation and purchase of tobacco leaves in Krong Pa, Gia Lai - where BAT has one of the largest leaf-growing areas in Vietnam. This plant has helped 700-800 households earn a better living for many years.
In March, BAT-Vinataba JV visited the leaf-growing area in Gia Lai, one of the largest leaf-growing areas in Vietnam. Along with BAT-Vinataba JV, the trip included representatives from a number of government departments and organizations, such as the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Committee for Management of State Capital, Vietnam Tobacco Association, Vinataba, and other stakeholders.
In March, BAT Vietnam held a ceremony to summarize the “Women’s Empowerment” program and continued to disburse a sponsoring loan for disadvantaged women in Duc Hue District, Long An Province. The successes of the program achieved in 2022 have provided BAT with a strong incentive to continue the program for many years to come, helping disadvantaged women improve their livelihoods.
From 28th to 30th April in Quang Tri Province, Bia Saigon - the leading brand of SABECO will accompany the Vietnamese Culture and Culinary Festival 2023, which is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) with the role of “ Beer of Vietnamese culinary culture”, aiming to support the Vietnam national strategy - establishing the country as an attractive destination in the region.
