CSR Award Ceremony 2012

Hanoi, March 30, 2013: Honoring and encouraging enterprises to implement corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Environment and Labor fields are the main content of CSR Award Ceremony 2012 which is live broadcasted on VTV1 channel, Vietnam television on Saturday morning, March 30, 2013.
                           
The Award is conducted by Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in collaboration with ministries, agencies and the project “Helping Vietnamese SMEs Adapt and Adopt Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for Improved Linkages with Global Supply Chains in Sustainable Production”(funded by European Union (EU), carried out by The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) together with its consortium of other partners).
                  
After nearly a year of launching and collecting applications from enterprises, the Judging Panel has worked hard and fair in three months to review all applications. Around 50 businesses were selected into the final round of which 41 companies have won the Awards including 01 First Prize, 02 Second Prizes, 03 Third Prizes and 15 Honorable Prizes in each sector (Environment and Labor).
                         
“CSR practice is not new in the world, but in Vietnam this issue has just been mentioned and implemented within two decades. VCCI is one of the pioneers supporting Vietnamese business community to implement CSR during this time. So far, many enterprises have realized that profit thinking need to be associated with human resource development and environmental protection towards to sustainable development”, said Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Director of the Office for Business Sustainable Development, VCCI.
                                     
Mr. Vu Tien Loc, Chairman of VCCI said: “It can be seen that the champions are those who demonstrate high commitment on CSR of both leaders and staff. Integrating CSR in business is essential step for company, especially multi-national company/transnational company”.
                                                                
The Award encourages enterprises to follow recent approved National Strategic Objectives by the Government, such as: The National Green Growth for the period 2011-2020 and with a vision to 2050; the Viet Nam Sustainable Development Strategy for the 2011-2020; National Strategy on Climate Change to 2050 and a vision to 2100; and The revised Labor Code passed by the National Assembly in term XIII, 3rd session as well as others regulations related./.
