SABECO joins PRO Vietnam, reinforcing commitment to sustainable development

SABECO has officially joined Vietnam Packaging Recycling Organization (PRO Vietnam) to drive effective initiatives that support the nation’s green growth goals, marking a significant step in its sustainability journey.

On August 13, SABECO became a member of PRO Vietnam, joining hands with the organization in completing its mission to collect and recycle about 70,000 tons of packaging materials. This partnership also aims to boost consumers’ awareness, improve packaging waste management, and support workers in the recycling industry.

With PRO Vietnam's support, SABECO is committed to strengthening Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) efforts to contribute to the country’s green growth objectives. Alongside other alliance members, SABECO will help shape regulations and policies related to EPR that are both effective and tailored to Vietnam's business landscape.

Joining this alliance highlights SABECO’s long-term vision for sustainable development, building on practical initiatives the company has steadily pursued over the years.

Since 2018, SABECO has focused on designing and producing thinner, lighter packaging to reduce materials used, while reusing bottles and beer crates to minimize environmental waste. The company has also invested in renewable energy, saving up to 25 million kWh of electricity annually—equivalent to cutting 18,000 tons of CO2 emissions each year—supporting its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Additionally, SABECO has reduced water usage in production, lowering the amount needed to produce each liter of beer from 5 liters in 2018 to under 3 liters. The company has also switched to alternative fuels like rice husks, sawdust, cashew nut shells, and leaves in its boilers.

With 26 breweries, 11 trading companies, and hundreds of thousands of sales points nationwide, SABECO understands the role and its possible impacts. "SABECO is committed to advancing its ESG strategy that follows sustainable principles," SABECO’s representative stated.

For years, SABECO's sustainability strategy has revolved around four pillars: Country, Culture, Conservation, and Consumption. The company is dedicated to contributing to the country’s sustainable development, preserving traditional Vietnamese cultural values, conducting business with a focus on conservation and environmental protection, and promoting responsible beer consumption.

As one of Vietnam’s leading enterprises, SABECO recognizes its role and responsibilities in driving socio-economic development—not only by contributing to the national budget and benefiting the company, shareholders, partners, and employees but also by ensuring sustainable development, green production, and the protection of vital resources.
