Mondelez Kinh Do joins hands with the youth to shape the future of sustainable packaging

In line with its commitment to advancing a circular economy in the snacking industry, Mondelez Kinh Do has partnered with SCGP at organizing the Packaging Speak Out 2025. This competition is a dedicated platform for young design talents, especially students with a passion for packaging innovation.

More than 100 students nationwide took part in the competition, embarking on a journey including an intensive bootcamp, expert mentoring, and a hands-on challenge to develop real-world packaging solutions. In its role as an expert, Mondelez Kinh Do collaborated with SCGP to co-develop a practical brief, offering in-depth guidance to help participants understand the requirements and constraints of large-scale manufacturing, particularly the importance of sustainable practices in consumer packaging.

The winning teams, Hippoo and LucK, both from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, stood out for their innovative application of Reuse – Reduce – Recycle principles to designs tailored for Vietnam’s peak consumption seasons: Tết (Lunar New Year) and Mid-Autumn Festival. Their packaging not only celebrated Vietnamese cultural heritage but also offered post-use value through reusability, biodegradability, or transformation into practical items.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lien, Corporate Government Affairs Lead at Mondelez Kinh Do, emphasized: “Packaging is a strategic element that connects our brands with consumers and brings our commitment to sustainable development to life. As a pioneer with a vision to lead the future of snacking, we continuously drive innovation and work alongside the young generation, equipping them with practical knowledge, creative skills, and a deep understanding of large-scale production processes. Initiatives like Packaging Speak Out allow Mondelez Kinh Do to collaborate with partners like SCGP in inspiring innovative thinking and nurturing young creative talent, who are the future enablers of sustainable packaging solutions”

In recent years, Mondelez Kinh Do has continuously advanced its packaging innovation across key brands such as Oreo, AFC, Cosy, Solite, and Kinh Do Fresh. These efforts focus on reducing plastic in packaging design, optimizing size, minimizing ink usage, and increasing use of materials designed to be recyclable. The company is also working closely with industry partners to scale up post-consumer collection and recycling efforts, thereby advancing the circular economy for both paper and plastic packaging in Vietnam.

Beyond the competition, Packaging Speak Out 2025 created a academic and professional dialogue space through a sector-focused seminar, where judges, including representatives from Mondelez Kinh Do evaluated and joined discussions around emerging trends in packaging. The seminar emphasized that packaging today is more than a container - it is a “brand ambassador” and a key element of a company’s Environmental – Social – Governance (ESG) strategy.

The competition offered young talents the opportunity to apply innovative thinking, take environmental responsibility, and design packaging solutions that align with sustainability goals. It also demonstrated how companies like Mondelez Kinh Do can actively shape a circular mindset and contribute to the development of Vietnam’s next generation of creative talent.
