Dow Wins Amcham CSR Recognition Award for Second Consecutive Year

HA NOI, VIETNAM – November 30th 2016 – Dow received Amcham CSR Recognition Award 2016 for its sustainable Corporate Social Responsible (CSR) practices in Vietnam for the second consecutive year. The prestigious award demonstrates public recognition by a reputed organization for Dow’s active engagement in helping the Vietnamese to address pressing challenges such as Access to Safe and Clean Drinking Water, Sustainable Operations, and Environment Protection.
 
One of Dow’s most notable CSR initiatives in 2016 is providing eight water purification systems to rural schools and hospitals which benefited more than 4,000 students and patients with safe and clean drinking water. This follows the renewal of a two-year Memorandum of Understanding with the People’s Aid Coordinating Committee (PACCOM). Dow’s most recent CSR initiative includes its joint efforts in making Hanoi Lakes Cleaner, and conserving water resources and protecting environment with the participation of more than 1,200 volunteers. On top of that, Dow’s other CSR activities include as follows:
 
- Empowering more than 2,300 enterprises in 38 nationwide provinces with knowledge in cleaner production and waste management, as well as promoting the circular economy concept for sustainability and environment protection for Vietnamese enterprises. Dow’s role as Co-Chair and one of the founding members of the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) fully supports this.
- Four on-going “Building homes, building hope” projects for the underprivileged.
- A meaningful “Color of Love” project in collaboration with strategic customer/ partner to improve school facilities and learning conditions for more than 1,000 pupils.
- A 20 million VND scholarship to Ho Chi Minh City Youth Social Work Center to benefit the students of Tran Van On Primary School.
- Sponsorship of AmCham scholarship program for Vietnamese young talents.
 
Significantly, in 2015, Dow has embarked on the third stage of our sustainability journey with very ambitious 2025 Sustainability Goals to address each of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and will incorporate the value of nature and society into all of our business decisions. Dow Vietnam’s very CSR initiatives are in line with Dow’s 2025 Sustainability Goals that advance the well-being of humanity by helping lead the transition to a sustainable planet and society.
