ZERO LANDFILL IN CIRCULAR ECONOMY CONFERENCE: GIVING 17 GREEN BUSINESS AWARDS

As the country's economic development is on the rise, the population is rapidly increasing, leading to the growing demand for more natural resources, Vietnam is facing a great challenge: we have to develop our social economy and reduce resource exploitation at the same time. By ensuring that waste can be turned into raw materials for production, thereby minimizing negative impacts on the environment and health, switching from linear economy to circular economy is an urgent requirement and an indispensable trend in the development of Vietnamese enterprises.

The conference was also an opportunity for authorities, social organizations and businesses to look into the alarming level of environmental pollution caused by landfilling so that they can jointly discuss and provide the most effective solutions. Among which, co-processing is considered as a more advanced technology compared to landfilling and incineration in the waste management hierarchy by a vast majority of environmental experts. The most important differentiator of co-processing from other technologies is that it not only enables energy recovery but also material recycling. Moreover, co-processing leaves no residues, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and completely destroys hazardous components.

Mr. Philippe Richard, CEO of INSEE Vietnam, sharing at the conference

Also within the framework of the conference, four thematic seminars have been delivered by leading organizations such as Nestlé Vietnam, NS BlueScope Vietnam, Heineken Vietnam and Plant Protection Department of Vietnam. The presenters shared about the most successful Zero Landfill and Circular Economy case studies in Vietnam. These organizations are all focused on seizing growth opportunities through product innovation, reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions, diversifying supply and securing resources.

At the end of the conference, INSEE Ecocycle expressed the most sincere thanks to the loyal customers for their trust and cooperation with INSEE Ecocycle Vietnam in the journey of implementing "Zero Landfill in Circular Economy”. Through this Green Business Award, INSEE Ecocycle wants to spread motivation for Vietnamese business community to become committed to sustainable development so that Vietnamese products can gain a foothold in global markets and collaborate for a greener future of Vietnam.

INSEE giving the Green Business Award

“I am so glad to learn that we do not have to wait 10 more years to realize zero landfill because it is already a reality for some companies and some types of waste at least. We have the right to believe that Vietnam will have a better and more environmentally friendly waste treatment system in the future.” – said Bruno Fux, INSEE Ecocycle Vietnam Director.

This Zero Landfill in Circular Economy Conference 2018 is organized by INSEE Ecocycle Vietnam in association with Plant Protection Department, Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD), European Chamber of Commerce In Vietnam (EuroCham), Green Growth Sector Committee (GGSC), British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV), NS BlueScope, Nestlé Vietnam and media partner by Saigon Times Group.
