MIDLAND, Mich. – August 19, 2019 – Dow has been included on FORTUNE’s 2019 "Change the World" list, a ranking of 52 companies that have made an important social or environmental impact through their profit-making strategy and operations. Listed as number 26 in the ranking, Dow is recognized for its program to pilot the use of recycled plastics in roads as part of the company’s long-standing commitment to reduce plastic waste and drive sustainability solutions.

Dow has collaborated with the value chain to build nearly 100 km of asphalt roads containing recycled plastic across Asia, Europe, North America and Latin America. The projects, some of which are enabled by Dow’s ELVALOY™ RET asphalt modification technology, have diverted nearly 200 metric tons of plastic, equivalent to 50 million flexible pouches, from becoming litter or entering a landfill. The roads that are polymer-modified are often more resistant to corrosion from weather or vehicles than neat asphalt and can therefore reduce the number of dangerous potholes or traffic jams.
Dow believes that plastic waste has value and can be transformed into new products and energy. In addition to plastic roads, Dow is working with key partners in South America to use recycled plastics to develop construction materials for schools in Colombia. Dow is also at the forefront of developing and scaling chemical recycling technology to take recycled plastic waste back to feedstock for the creation of new products. By reimagining new ways to reuse, recycle and repurpose plastic waste, Dow and its partners are leading the way in the development of innovative circular economy solutions.

HANOI, Vietnam – April 17, 2019 – Dow and DEEP C signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build the first road using recycled plastics at the DEEP C Industrial Complex in Haiphong City in Vietnam. The project aims to divert post-use flexible packaging from becoming litter or entering a landfill, while also creating more durable, longer-lasting roads.

On January 18, 2019, the Final Showcase of the USAID BUILD-IT & Dow Vietnam STEM Program: Engineering Projects in Community Service was held at HCM City. More than 150 participating STEM students from six engineering and technology focused universities concluded the five-month program following the EPICS curriculum model, an internationally recognized model of service learning where students not only learn by doing but also learn by creating.

Dow joins Circulate Capital and the Ocean Conservancy with investments to keep plastic waste out of the environment
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended the Green Growth and the Global Goals (P4G) Summit in Copenhagen on October 20, which also drew leaders of 30 Vietnamese enterprises in green energy, trade, investment, and high technology. Addressing the event, PM Phuc expressed his belief that promising green growth projects and programmes will be promptly implemented, contributing to strongly promoting the realisation of sustainable development goals to 2030.
WASHINGTON, DC—August 22, 2018—Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) announced today its 2018 start-up partnerships. Each of the public-private partnerships will receive USD 100,000 in funding to advance their project to support green growth and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in a range of developing countries.
