Ho Chi Minh City, August 23rd, 2021: In face of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City; responding to the request of the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control for Ho Chi Minh City with more drastic measurements to limit the number of deaths, SCG continues to develop many practical initiatives to accompany the authorities and people of Ho Chi Minh City during this difficult time. Particularly, SCG has officially donated a series of essential medical supplies and equipment to the Field Hospital in District 8, several hospitals and government units. Notably - there are 26 Hygiene Modular Bathrooms designed and built by SCG to ensure hygiene standards, anti-bacterial and limit cross-contamination in high-risk pandemic areas, together with 800 beds for field hospitals. The total value of the donation package is worth up to 5 billion VND.

The Hygiene Modular Bathroom was researched and developed by SCG Cement – Building Materials. These bathrooms are designed based on two main principles: Touchless and High Ventilation. Accordingly, the chamber will minimize the user contact with shared sanitary equipment such as hand washing faucets, sanitizer dispensers, etc, through the touchless mechanism. In addition, the bathroom is also equipped with a high-capacity ventilation system (including high-performance propellers and air outlet) with great air exchange capacity, preventing the internal bathroom areas from storing dirty air and maintaining fresh and natural air quality from the outside.

Particularly, in Ho Chi Minh City, District 8 is currently one of the areas that suffered the most from COVID-19 pandemic, with a high growing number of death cases, infection cases in quarantined camps and communities. Under this circumstance, the Children's House of District 8 was requisitioned to establish as a field hospital for COVID-19 treatment, many medical teams and support staffs were transitioned here. Due to the high number of patients, the demands for medical supplies, equipment and facilities to serve essential needs is escalating. This situation can cause many negative effects in the long term, especially the cross-contamination effect. Understanding that, SCG take quick action to support the hospital much specialized medical equipment for treatment process such as Portable ultrasound machines, X-ray handheld machines, 5 Parameter Patient Monitor, Electric Syringe Pump, Infuser Machine, especially with SCG’s latest innovations as 04 assembled Hygiene Modular Bathrooms and 100 Paper Field Hospital Beds, with a total value of more than 2 billion VND. These contributions not only reduce the burden for the frontline medical teams, but also make the patient's treatment process more safe and well-timed.
Talking about the support from SCG, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Director of the COVID-19 Treatment Field Hospital in District 8 shared: “In the current pandemic situation, which SCG brings is extremely necessary, realistic and meaningful. As a hot spot in the pandemic, our hospital serves for severe cases, and these items contribute to the hospital's effective operation. It assists necessary needs of patients such as medical equipment, beds, Hygiene Modular Bathrooms, facilitates medical staff, and empowers them spiritually to save patients' lives.”.
In addition to COVID-19 Treatment Field Hospital in District 8, in Ho Chi Minh city, SCG also distributed 07 Hygiene Modular Bathrooms to Children’s House in Thu Duc City, were transformed to be the gathering house for medical staff and volunteer who serving F0, another 15 bathrooms are under installment to timely delivering. Besides, 500 steel beds were transported to Binh Minh Field Hospital (located in Thu Duc City), 200 Paper Fields Hospital Beds are produced to continue supply and other medical supplies, accessories for PCR test to COVID-19 Treatment Hospital in Go Vap District, etc. Besides, 300 umbrellas were also delivered to authority units to assist in the fight against the pandemic.
Most recently, 3000 SCGP Paper Field Hospital Beds have been distributed to 17 districts, wards in Ho Chi Minh City and Thu Duc City, the Dormitory of Vietnam National University - the most crowded quarantine location in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as other neighboring provinces such as Long An, Dong Nai and Binh Duong.
Continuing to respond to the vaccination program in the country, SCG's subsidiaries have also made efforts to join hands with the authority. Specifically, Long Son Petrochemical Co., Ltd in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province donated 10 billion VND, Prime Group Joint Stock Company in Vinh Phuc donated 500 million VND, 300 million VND were also donated by Song Gianh Cement Joint Stock Company in Quang Binh province through the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front.
Prior to this, SCG has mobilized the support from subsidiaries to provide timely support to many critical pandemic touch points in the nation. Primarily, SCGP has donated to Hai Duong province 100 Paper Field Hospital beds and 10,000 premium-quality paper boxes to deliver provisional contents to the lockdown zones. In Bac Giang, 100 Paper Field Hospital beds were delivered to the provincial field hospitals together with 1,000 face shields from SCG to protect the medical team. In order to support the government in protecting health and safety during elections, SCGP has installed 400 paper partitions at polling stations and local government offices.
These contributions in the pandemic prevention and protection for the frontline medical force, once again demonstrate the relentless commitment of SCG to the local community, towards a better living for Vietnamese people.
