As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to the community and to mark the start of the new school year in Vietnam, AES Mong Duong has presented 170 scholarships to disadvantaged students in Quang Ninh Province and donated equipment including sets of tables and chairs and bicycles to local students, worth a total of more than VND440 million.
This year, students are facing unprecedented challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with many schools closed amid social distancing measures. To support our communities, 170 disadvantaged students in Cam Pha city, Quang Ninh Province, were presented with scholarships worth VND1,000,000 each from AES Mong Duong Power Company to mark the new school year in 2021-2022.

In collaboration with the Organization for Disadvantaged Children in Quang Ninh, the scholarships were handed out during ceremonies with the presence of representatives from local government, AES Mong Duong, and local schools in the area.
This is the fifth consecutive year the company has held the scholarship program, aiming to motivate students to advance their studies and help to cover a part of the educational costs at the beginning of the new school year. The scholarship package, which is worth a total of VND170 million, was presented to students at schools in five wards and communes in Cam Pha city, including Mong Duong, Cam Hai, Cong Hoa, Cua Ong and Duong Huy.
In addition, in August, in Cam Pha city, in collaboration with the Association for the Support of Quang Ninh Province Handicapped and Orphans, AES Mong Duong donated 30 bicycles and helmets to 30 orphans and disabled students, worth a total of VND76,000,000. The bicycles and helmets aim to help these students get to school and pursue their studies at the start of the new school year. For Mong Duong Secondary School, a total of 135 sets of tables and chairs, worth a total of VND195,750,000, were also given to the school to improve the conditions for local students by replacing old and broken equipment in 13 classrooms.

Mr. Truong Manh Hung, Director of Organization for Disadvantaged Children in Quang Ninh offered sincere thanks to AES Mong Duong for the meaningful contributions to the local education sector, through both scholarships and other education supports, continuing the company’s commitment to local development.
The educational support packages are part of the company’s social support program, which has been carried out since 2012. A total of 130 CSR initiatives, valued at more than VND12 billion, have been implemented, focusing on four main pillars – Health, Education, Livelihoods and Infrastructure – and ensure a long-lasting impact to improve the lives of people in local communities.
Binh Thuan, 12 October 2021, AES Vietnam presented 1,000 COVID-19 rapid test kits to Ham Tan Healthcare Center to support the fight against the pandemic in Binh Thuan Province. This support package also includes 500 N95 face masks. The handover ceremony was organized with the presence of representatives Ham Tan Healthcare Center, AES Vietnam and other members of local authorities.
Ba Ria Vung Tau — 9 September 2021, SCG and Long Son Petrochemicals (LSP) together with EPC Contractors of the Petrochemicals Complex in South of Vietnam donated the Fully Automated Real-Time PCR Testing Machine value 9.16 billion VND to Vung Tau Medical Clinic to support Ba Ria Vung Tau province in the battle against COVID-19.
Ho Chi Minh City, August 23rd, 2021: In face of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City; responding to the request of the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control for Ho Chi Minh City with more drastic measurements to limit the number of deaths, SCG continues to develop many practical initiatives to accompany the authorities and people of Ho Chi Minh City during this difficult time.
