Hanoi, November 11th 2021: In the face of the pandemic development in Hanoi, as a good corporate citizen, SCG has taken action to donate Real Time PCR Testing Machine for Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Hanoi to Gia Lam General Hospital – one amongst five hospitals serving COVID-19 treatment. This action aims to support the COVID-19 testing process in the area. This donation is the continuation of the “SCG together fight the COVID-19 pandemic” campaign that has been taken across the nation for months.
For the current situation, the change from the "Zero COVID-19" strategy to "Response safely, flexibly and effectively control the COVID-19 epidemic” has been implemented, showing that proactive PCR testing will greatly support the fight against the pandemic.
Sharing at the handover ceremony, SCG Representatives said: “As a responsible corporate citizen, SCG has deployed necessary donation to support the pandemic in Hanoi during this challenging time as well as co-live with the pandemic in the future. With this donation, we hope to assist Hanoi authorities in the pandemic prevention process and support the people’s well-being, helping people get back to new normal life soon”.
At the moment, the pandemic in Hanoi is partly controlled; however, with the new fast-spreading variant of COVID-19, the situation still remains unpredictable. The donation of the Fully Automated Real-Time PCR Testing Machine aims to enhance the quantity and speed of COVID-19 PCR test, leading to a better proactiveness and effectiveness for the frontline workforces in the fight against COVID-19.

This effort once again demonstrates SCG's relentless commitment to uplift the life of the communities in Vietnam. Beside of this support, in 2021, SCG has donated more than VND 30 billion to support COVID-19 relief in southern provinces including Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Long An and other hot-spot provinces. Additionally, SCG Cement Building Materials Vietnam Co., Ltd - a subsidiary of SCG also provided in-cash support to the National Front Committee of Quang Binh province, as well as contributed thousands of medical equipment and provided meals for the provincial medical staff, giving strengths to the front line workforce in the fight against the pandemic.

Binh Thuan, 12 October 2021, AES Vietnam presented 1,000 COVID-19 rapid test kits to Ham Tan Healthcare Center to support the fight against the pandemic in Binh Thuan Province. This support package also includes 500 N95 face masks. The handover ceremony was organized with the presence of representatives Ham Tan Healthcare Center, AES Vietnam and other members of local authorities.
Ba Ria Vung Tau — 9 September 2021, SCG and Long Son Petrochemicals (LSP) together with EPC Contractors of the Petrochemicals Complex in South of Vietnam donated the Fully Automated Real-Time PCR Testing Machine value 9.16 billion VND to Vung Tau Medical Clinic to support Ba Ria Vung Tau province in the battle against COVID-19.
Ho Chi Minh City, August 23rd, 2021: In face of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City; responding to the request of the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control for Ho Chi Minh City with more drastic measurements to limit the number of deaths, SCG continues to develop many practical initiatives to accompany the authorities and people of Ho Chi Minh City during this difficult time. Particularly, SCG has officially donated a series of essential medical supplies and equipment to the Field Hospital in District 8, several hospitals and government units. Notably - there are 26 Hygiene Modular Bathrooms designed and built by SCG to ensure hygiene standards, anti-bacterial and limit cross-contamination in high-risk pandemic areas, together with 800 beds for field hospitals. The total value of the donation package is worth up to 5 billion VND.

Quang Ninh, 27 August 2021, AES Mong Duong, a subsidiary of AES Vietnam, has donated VND500 million to Vietnam’s national COVID-19 Vaccine Fund, with the aim of supporting and accelerating the purchase and administration of vaccines against the novel coronavirus in Vietnam. The hand-over ceremony was held at the Quang Ninh Fatherland Front office, with the attendance of representatives from Quang Ninh People’s Committee, Quang Ninh Fatherland Front and AES Mong Duong.
