SCG JOINS HANDS WITH BINH DUONG PROVINCE TO BUILD A COMMUNITY OUTDOOR GYM MODEL, AIMING AT UPLIFTING THE PUBLIC HEALTH

Binh Duong Province, March 30th, 2022 - Following the success of the outdoor gym project in Quang Binh in 2021, today, SCG and the authorities of An Phu Ward, Thuan An City, Binh Duong Province officially inaugurates an outdoor gym model in the province, aiming to bring a multi-purpose O2 space for local people to improve their physical and spiritual health and celebrate the 11th Binh Duong Provincial Youth Union Congress, 12th National Youth Union Congress, term 2022 - 2027. Aligned with the government’s direction that each province has a public playground to develop a healthy lifestyle amongst the communities, the project once again demonstrates SCG’s brand promise “Passion For Better” for the community.

SCG Outdoor Gym is invested by SCG in Binh Duong province with a total cost of 530 million VND, including: outdoor sports kits, volleyball court, badminton court, youth common house, games for kids, space for groups, union, outdoor teams, green gardens, etc., and other utility items to ensure the public landscape in the residential community. It is expected to attract 10,000 people to participate in monthly activities.

At the ceremony, Mr. Piyapong Jriyasetapong - General Director of SCG Vietnam, subsidiaries of SCG said: "Improving public health is a key direction from the government and each province. Meanwhile, with the effects of COVID-19, people are now well aware of the importance of sports training and living in a healthy environment. Recognizing this, SCG is proud to join hands with Binh Duong Province to construct an outdoor gym model, offering a green space and fresh atmosphere for local people. We believe with this public space, people will be encouraged to develop a healthy lifestyle and the habit of doing exercises”

The SCG outdoor gym in Binh Duong is a multi-sport complex which is suitable for different age groups, from the junior kid to the teenagers and the elders. Healthy living and outdoor activities are encouraged via the provision of a gym area with provided equipment for from elderly to teenagers, and two multi-purpose playgrounds for kids, a walkway, and a badminton court. In addition, nature lovers will be in their element here as most of the space is dedicated to verdant landscaping.

The outdoor gym model is constructed by the Service and Solution Department of SCG Cement - Building Materials, a business of SCG. Using premium-quality materials from SCG Cement - Building Materials including SCG Smartwood, SCG Smartboard, SCG concrete roof, StarCemt Cement and SCG Moolar wall putty. Besides, being designed by Think Playgrounds - a pioneer social enterprise with a mission of renovating public playgrounds in Vietnam. Through joint-efforts of all parties, the project is expected to be user-and-environment friendly, and to play a vital role in promoting outdoor exercises among the community.

“Think Playgrounds is a social enterprise, so its mission is always towards the community. We realize that many provinces and cities in Vietnam have a shortage of playgrounds and public spaces. This prevents kids from having a playful childhood and adults from increasing their quality of life. Therefore, we are extremely glad to be with SCG to design and build the outdoor gym model in Binh Duong Province, which will help to create more green landscapes and friendly and inclusive public spaces for the community," shared Mr.Nguyen Tieu Quoc Dat, Co-founder of Think Playgrounds.

"We are very thankful and appreciate SCG's significant support to the people in Binh Duong Province throughout the years. This outdoor gym will serve as a place for sporting interactions, thus helping to uplift local communities for a better living. With the inspiration from this model, we've made progress toward our aim of creating an outdoor training facility for each ward in Binh Duong Province, contributing to the effective implementation of the Youth Law in 2020, concretize and bring the Resolution of the 11th Binh Duong Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025 into life; at the same time, helping the Youth Union at all levels to well implement the Resolution of the 11th National Youth Union Congress and the 10th Binh Duong Provincial Youth Union Congress Resolution, term 2017 - 2022, in which the target "New construction at each commune, wards and towns at least a place of activities and entertainment for young people" and criteria to ensure social security, thereby helping Binh Duong become a civilized and modern city in the future.” Mrs.Nguyen Thi Ngoc Xuan - Provincial Commissioner, Communist of Binh Duong Provincial Youth Union.
