Mondelez Kinh Do made a food donation worth VND 9.6 billion to community since Jan 2022

Hochiminh City, Oct 2022 - Performing community responsibility is part of Mondelez Kinh Do’s operations. Since January 2022, the company has donated more than VND 9.6 billion product worth to the community through a partnership with Food Bank Vietnam.

Accordingly, to respond to the food relief calls and support people in overcoming the difficulties, Mondelez Kinh Do donated 17.000 boxes of its confectionery products to frontline medical workers, disadvantaged people and kids in remote areas.

Approximately 104.000 people have received support from Mondelez Kinh Do through Red Cross Vietnam, hospitals, medical clinics, shelters, open houses, nursing homes, and orphanages across the country. The food gifts given to each person were thoughtfully prepared to suit different nutritional needs and living conditions to ensure healthy nutrition for every recipient.

Joining hands with social organizations to spread the spirit of mutual support and solidarity widely, Mondelez Kinh Do staff took part in various meaningful volunteering activities like “Bếp yêu thương - Love Kitchen” (preparing meals for people in a difficult situation), “Cháo mùa thu - Autumn's Congee” in Hanoi, and Food Sharing Day event organized by Food Bank Vietnam. Volunteers from the Mondelez Kinh Do team also carried out Go green activities, collected garbage at the office for recycling, and participated in the waste classification project in partnership with Green Connect to drive education and raise awareness of environmental sustainability.

"Being committed to doing the right things for the community and empowering consumers to snack right, Mondelez Kinh Do always holds itself accountable to create more values for the socio-economy, support people in difficulty, and reduce the impact on the environment. Through our efforts to collaborate with social organizations, we hope to create positive change and make practical contributions to improving the nutritional health of the community and advancing sustainable development in Vietnam", said Mr. Anil Viswanathan, Managing Director of Mondelez Kinh Do Vietnam.

Speaking about the partnership with Mondelez Kinh Do, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Khoi, Chairman of Food Bank Vietnam, shared: "As a member of the Global Food Banking Network, Food Bank Vietnam is currently trying to expand its scope of operations and support more and more needy people. Through the partnership with Mondelez Vietnam, in the past time, Food Bank Vietnam had the opportunity to give more quality food to customers. Hundreds of shelters, nursing homes, and many underprivileged children are in remote areas of the country. Food Bank Vietnam wishes to continue to maintain and enhance the cooperation relationship in order to maximize the role of sharing and combating food waste on both sides.”

As part of Mondelez International, Mondelez Kinh Do follows the corporation’s approach to ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) that is designed to enable the company to deliver lasting change at scale by prioritizing where it can have the greatest impact, focusing on innovative and measurable solutions.

Recently, as an enterprise pursuing sustainable growth and circular economy, Mondelez Kinh Do has funded the Larva Yum project brought by Green Connect to perform the “Upcycle food waste into free-range chickens and eggs” project, which uses black soldier fly larvae to process organic waste into nutrient-rich organic fertilizer for plants and produce free-range eggs, helping to reduce organic waste. Besides funding the project, Mondelez Kinh Do also allows Green Connect to collect food waste from Mondelez Kinh Do's Binh Duong factory with a volume of 5-6 tons per month for processing into animal feed.

For seven years operating in Vietnam with remarkable business achievements, Mondelez Kinh Do has made efforts to promote ESG and circular economy via several programs, significantly contributing to environmental sustainability. The company keeps laying out notable plans to reach its long-term goal of becoming a more sustainable snacking company in Vietnam, such as: Converting manufacturing electricity footprint to renewable energy; Relacing thermal fuels (natural gas, diesel etc) by 'green alternatives'; Designing packaging to be recycle- ready; Water and food waste reduction programs across the supply chain.
