Following the solar project that was implemented in Q1 2022, in July 2022, BAT Vietnam was officially awarded the I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate) certificate.
I-REC is a type of Energy Attribute Certificate (EAC), which represents one megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity produced by renewable sources. Among the Guarantee of Origin (GO) used in the European Union energy market and the Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) in the US and Canadian markets, I-REC is used in regions such as Africa, Asia, and South America
On obtaining this honorable certificate, 100% of electrical energy consumed at BAT Vietnam, including the 2 joint-venture factories and the head office in Dong Nai & Ho Chi Minh City, is now powered by green energy sources.
This is a proud moment for BAT Vietnam, marking a milestone in our goal of increasing renewable energy usage in our production and business activities.
BAT Vietnam has teamed up with Gaia Nature Conservation in a bid to combat climate change and protect biodiversity in Vietnam involving afforestation projects in Ca Mau and Dong Nai from 2022-2025.
For World Cleanup Day 2022, a total of 200 Nestlé Vietnam’s staff volunteered to collect waste on a beach in Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City. Nearly 1.5 tonnes of rubbish was collected in just half a day.

Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province, August 06th, 2022 – SCG Chemicals (SCGC) and its subsidiary Long Son Petrochemicals (LSP) - owner of the first integrated petrochemicals complex in Vietnam in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Vung Tau City planted 400 trees in the area of Nui Lon (Vung Tau City), equivalent to 3.26 hectares of forest.

Ho Chi Minh City, August 19, 2022 – Today, USAID BUILD-IT Program and Dow Vietnam hosted their 4th annual investor-style pitch competition, Maker to Entrepreneur (MEP): Venture Demo Day under the framework of the USAID BUILD-IT and Dow Vietnam STEM Program, for over 100 engineering students and guests from across Vietnam. Young engineers gathered to compete for a total of $1,000 in start-up funding. The business savvy demonstrated by the students exemplified how engineers can use market forces to scale their innovative projects into in demand products.
On 7-8 July, 2022, students awarded ‘AES Future Energy Scholarship’ and lecturers from three universities, namely the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Electric Power University and Hanoi University of Science – Vietnam National University, joined a visit to the Mong Duong 2 Thermal Power Plant.
