On August 16, 2022, AES Mong Duong donated 30 bicycles and 30 helmets, totaling more than VND80 million, to Cam Pha city disabled and orphaned children.
Representatives from the People's Committee of Cam Pha City, the Association for the Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans in Quang Ninh, representatives of AES Mong Duong, students and their families attended the ceremony.
The event was timed in September as a way to encourage and support children with disabilities and orphans in their new school year , and help to increase the school attendance rate in Cam Pha city and Tien Yen district.
"We believe that via this program, children with disabilities can improve their physical health and develop greater confidence in going to school. We also hope that this important initiative will continue to help more local disabled and orphaned kids in the years to come", said Johnny Tanis, Plant Manager Office of AES Mong Duong.
"In Cam Pha City, there are many children with disabilities and orphans who were born into poor families, but they are always learning hard, and this bicycle is a gift and an encouragement to their efforts. This support program from AES Mong Duong has been implemented in the last 3 years. I would like to thank AES Mong Duong for their support and hope to continue our partnership in the future." said Mr. Ha Van Hien, the president of Cam Pha City Red Cross Association and the President of Cam Pha City Sponsoring Association for People with Disabilities and Orphans.
The donation is part of AES Mong Duong’s CSR program. Since 2012, over 130 CSR initiatives with a total value of more than VND12 billion have been implemented, focusing on four main pillars – Health, Education, Livelihoods and Infrastructure. The activities have made a lasting difference and contributed to improving the quality of life of more than 200,000 people in neighboring communities in Cam Pha city, Quang Ninh Province.
On the occasion of the "International Coastal Cleanup Day" on 16/9 every year, and connecting to implement the project from the mother company "CPF Restore the Ocean". On 24/9/2022, CPV cooperated with Youth Social Work Center (YSW) with the project "Coastal Cleanup" at Long Hai and Phuoc Hai beach in Vung Tau province.
BAT Vietnam's "Women's Empowerment" program initially helped 40 women and their families in Long An province to overcome their difficulties. According to a report released in July 2022 by the Women's Union of Duc Hue district in Long An province, with the financial support of BAT as well as the attention of local authorities, 40 women in two communes in the border areas received much-needed support to overcome difficulties and improve their livelihoods.
Following the solar project that was implemented in Q1 2022, in July 2022, BAT Vietnam was officially awarded the I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate) certificate.
