Currently, the marine environment everywhere is seriously polluted by waste. And Vietnam is considered one of the countries with the fourth largest amount of waste discharged into the sea in the world, with a volume of about 0.28 - 0.73 million tons/year. Pollution from waste in coastal waters in Vietnam is extremely alarming, and marine pollution has been hindering the sustainable development of Vietnam's marines. Cleaning the sea and raising awareness of marine environmental protection for employees and in the community is one of the activities CP Vietnam has been implementing for many years.
CPV team join the "International Coastal Cleanup Day"
On the occasion of the "International Coastal Cleanup Day" on 16/9 every year, and connecting to implement the project from the mother company "CPF Restore the Ocean". On 24/9/2022, CPV cooperated with Youth Social Work Center (YSW) with the project "Coastal Cleanup" at Long Hai and Phuoc Hai beach in Vung Tau province. These beaches are areas with beautiful beaches attracting tourists, but in recent years’ waste from people's daily life, and waste from the sea has made this place one of the hot spots for environmental pollution. That is why local authorities are actively implementing communication activities, raising public awareness, linking with industry organizations for marine cleaning activities, and saying no to plastic waste.
Participating in the collection of waste along the coast has Mr. Nguyen Van Canh- Chairman of Phước Hai town and Mr. Worawit Arunraksa CPV Assistance Vice President and 130 employees from CPV business units such as feed factory (Feed), food processing factory (Food), shrimp farm (Hatchery), Poultry farm and head office staffs participated with employees from other companies such as Down, Virtour, Standard Charter, Callaway, Bollore & Gameloft are showed the spirit as well as the high awareness of environmental protection of CPV members and the community in contributing to reducing marine waste. The total amount of waste in which CPV members have collected 876 Kg. Waste has been classified by the participating members and the Organizer into categories such as reusable waste, non-biodegradable waste, and dangerous waste. to assign the waste treatment company to have appropriate treatment.
This year's "Coastal Cleanup" activity is very positive, reflected in the number of nearly 600 participants, and 1.714 kg of marine waste obtained. To spread the spirit of environmental protection, CPV will actively implement communication activities, raise public awareness, link marine cleaning, and say no to plastic waste to raise awareness of people and employees.
BAT Vietnam's "Women's Empowerment" program initially helped 40 women and their families in Long An province to overcome their difficulties. According to a report released in July 2022 by the Women's Union of Duc Hue district in Long An province, with the financial support of BAT as well as the attention of local authorities, 40 women in two communes in the border areas received much-needed support to overcome difficulties and improve their livelihoods.
Following the solar project that was implemented in Q1 2022, in July 2022, BAT Vietnam was officially awarded the I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate) certificate.
BAT Vietnam has teamed up with Gaia Nature Conservation in a bid to combat climate change and protect biodiversity in Vietnam involving afforestation projects in Ca Mau and Dong Nai from 2022-2025.
For World Cleanup Day 2022, a total of 200 Nestlé Vietnam’s staff volunteered to collect waste on a beach in Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City. Nearly 1.5 tonnes of rubbish was collected in just half a day.

Ho Chi Minh City, August 19, 2022 – Today, USAID BUILD-IT Program and Dow Vietnam hosted their 4th annual investor-style pitch competition, Maker to Entrepreneur (MEP): Venture Demo Day under the framework of the USAID BUILD-IT and Dow Vietnam STEM Program, for over 100 engineering students and guests from across Vietnam. Young engineers gathered to compete for a total of $1,000 in start-up funding. The business savvy demonstrated by the students exemplified how engineers can use market forces to scale their innovative projects into in demand products.
