Wednesday, May 31, 2023 - Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) on Wednesday launched sustainable business assessment program in 2023 to assess and praise business performance in three aspects: economy, society and environment. The program is part of the Government’s effort to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
This year, the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) has 130 indicators covering carbon emission inventory, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and circular economy models, which are stipulated in the Law on Environmental Protection.
The Program Organizing Committee will publicize the assessment scale to help businesses compare themselves with the scores from the Program's Evaluation Council.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice Chairman of VCCI, said, “We apply this Index to select 100 sustainable businesses every year. Actually, it is not for awarding, but more importantly, behind this set of criteria, VCCI wants that more and more businesses use this Index to measure themselves and to check their own health to see where the sustainability of their business is.”
The sustainable business assessment program 2023 receives applications by online form from businesses of all sizes and fields. The deadline for receiving applications is the end of August.

23 May 2023, Espoo, Finland – Nokia today announced the first deployment of 10G fiber broadband in Vietnam with operator Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT). The initial rollout will connect 10,000 homes and businesses in the 8 largest provinces of the country. Nokia is providing fiber access nodes for the operator’s exchanges and fiber modems for end users’ premises.
In late April, the factory of BAT Vietnam in Dong Nai achieved PAS2060 carbon neutral verification for Scope 1 & 2 emissions carried out by Totum Institute (Brazil). SABECO PROMOTES SOLAR ENERGY TO ACHIEVE NET ZERO EMISSION BY 2050
On the occasion of the 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2023), in two days from May 18 to 19, 2023, a representative of the Board of Directors of C.P Vietnam Corporation (CPV) participated in the launching ceremonies of 'Eternal gratitude to Uncle Ho' tree-planting campaign and the Prime Minister's program to plant 1 billion trees "For a green Vietnam" in two provinces of Dong Thap and Dong Nai.
Many businesses and locals are involved in the cultivation and purchase of tobacco leaves in Krong Pa, Gia Lai - where BAT has one of the largest leaf-growing areas in Vietnam. This plant has helped 700-800 households earn a better living for many years.
In March, BAT-Vinataba JV visited the leaf-growing area in Gia Lai, one of the largest leaf-growing areas in Vietnam. Along with BAT-Vinataba JV, the trip included representatives from a number of government departments and organizations, such as the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Committee for Management of State Capital, Vietnam Tobacco Association, Vinataba, and other stakeholders.
