Samsung Bac Ninh Hope School was inaugurated and put into operation in 2013 in Lac Ve commune, Tien Du district, Bac Ninh province with the desire to assist students living around Samsung's factory. The school was built with modern equipment, a synchronous system including: classroom zone, multi-purpose building, library, football playground, cafeteria. It offers after-school extracurricular courses such as IT, fine arts, foreign languages and soft skills to help students have a solid foundation to nurture their dreams. After 10 years of operation, Samsung Bac Ninh Hope School has given more than 2000 individuals in Bac Ninh the chance to live and learn in a healthy, dynamic environment where they can explore their own dreams, develop comprehensively and bring positive contributions to the educational development in Bac Ninh province. Up to now, a total of 62 students have graduated from this school. Thanks to the knowledge acquired from here, their chances to get into universities has also increased.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Ngo Tan Phuong - Vice President of Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee said that: On behalf of the Provincial People's Committee, I acknowledge and praise the great contributions of Samsung Vietnam Complex, which have directed Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. to coordinate with KFHI to aid and build "Vietnam - Korea Cooperation Center", not only building but also accompanying the organization to maintain the center's facilities. The company not only excels in production and business but also takes the lead in community support activities, deserving to be a comprehensive example for other FDI companies in the province to follow. "
The celebration also marks the completion of the renovation of Samsung Bac Ninh Hope School in order to provide students with a more comfortable and safe learning environment. From May 2023, Samsung Vietnam has repaired the school's facilities including playgrounds, toilets, water tanks, football fields, glass domes as well as providing new facilities and equipment such as printers, refrigerators, water purifiers, etc. Moreover, Samsung also donated more books to the school's library. The total renovation cost is more than VND 1 billion.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Choi Joo Ho – President of Samsung Vietnam Complex emphasized: “Our future depends a lot on the young generations. And supporting young people to pursue their dreams is the mission for all of us. President Ho Chi Minh once said, "For the sake of ten years, we must plant trees, for the sake of 100 years, we must cultivate people.". I believe that this is a reminder for us about the importance of investing in people; it is the best investment that creates great and lasting results. It has been 10 years since the establishment and operation of Samsung Bac Ninh Hope School. However, it can be said that these are merely the first steps in that 100-year journey. In the upcoming time, Samsung will continue to effectively operate the Samsung Hope School and constantly support the development of the youth - the future owners of the country.”
The 10-year journey of the Samsung Hope School initiative in Vietnam is marked by the 10th anniversary of Bac Ninh Hope School. Samsung has expanded the path to give wings to dreams of the next generation of Vietnamese youth from the inaugural Hope School in Bac Ninh with a number of School of Hope projects in numerous provinces, including Thai Nguyen (2018), Bac Giang (2021), and Lang Son (2022) offers opportunities to learn and develop for more than 5000 disadvantaged children. Samsung Hope School is one of many significant social responsibility programs whose purpose is to impart knowledge, share vision, and create a future for Vietnam's young population. The project to build a system of supporting facilities to serve the teaching of extracurricular classes and to organize supplementary programs for children participating in the project is based on a survey of local needs and the actual situation of extracurricular programs and activities for primary school students, particularly children with difficult circumstances, poor and near-poor households who are less able to afford access to extracurricular programs.
Samsung Hope School is the location for the “Child Development Programme (CDP)” for around 500 impoverished local children, with the goal of establishing comprehensive educational development opportunities. From elementary to junior high school in the neighborhood, the Child Development Programme not only provides children with high-tech industrial-era learning subjects such as informatics, programming, and work experiences, but it also gives gifted learning chances such as foreign language subjects, in particular English, Korean, music, arts, physical education, and so on. Students will also be allowed to participate in sex education activities, health checkups, and other volunteer activities around the school such as medical support…
Along with the 10-year journey of the Samsung School of Hope in Bac Ninh, 2023 also marks 15 years of Samsung's large-scale investment plan in Vietnam with the first smartphone factory, Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV), which was established in Bac Ninh in 2008. After 15 years, Samsung Vietnam has not only generated a powerful driving force for economic growth, attracting foreign investors to Bac Ninh in particular and Vietnam in general, but it has also proved its responsibilities to Vietnam society through a variety of community-oriented initiatives. For example, the “Samsung Solve for Tomorrow” competition encourages students to use STEM knowledge to develop practical solutions to problems affecting society; the Samsung Innovation Campus SIC program aims to develop high-tech capabilities for the young Vietnamese generation; the project “Training Candidates to Participate in the World Skills Competition” has delivered Vietnam a pair of Bronze medals in the IT Software Solutions contest in 2015 and 2017; along with many other activities.
- After nearly 1 year, the project has been implemented at 33 schools in 12 provinces across the country, bringing training opportunities for high-tech development for more than 3,200 students and teachers nationwide. - For the first time, the Science and Technology Innovation Competition “Innovation Tech Challenge - 2023” applied the Robocon format. - In 5 years of operation, the Samsung Innovation Campus program has provided courses such as C&P, AI, Big Data, IoT for about 6021 Vietnamese teenagers and about 389 teachers. The program has so far reached about 40 schools and 20 provinces nationwide.
