Sustainability reporting (SR) is one of the effective tools for businesses to measure and evaluate the sustainable development strategy. Nowadays, businesses increasingly recognize the value of sustainability reporting as a means of improving reputation, business performance and competitiveness advantage, while demonstrating to stakeholders the commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), and retaining employees.
Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is one of the most initial and widely used reporting frame works. Today, there are over 4000 organizations from 60 countries using GRI guidelines to produce a sustainability reporting. GRI is applied by enterprises, public services agencies, NGOs, industry sectors and many others. Last month, EU had approved a proposal to develop a directive on sustainable reporting. In Viet Nam, Viet Nam Business Council for Sustainable Development, under the direction of the National Council for Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Improvement, has been spending significant efforts in promotion and institutionalization of evaluative tools for sustainable development.
In order to support businesses in developing a sustainability reporting, at the same time enhancing the awareness of policy makers that SR is a reliable source for their decision making, the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) under Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Viet Nam Network of Global Compact in coordination with the Global Reporting Initiative will organize an Introductory Workshop on Sustainability Reporting in Ha Noi. The speakers are specialists from the Netherlands. Participants are expected to be CEOs and reporters.
