Consultation Workshop for Draft Green Growth Action Plan in Da Nang (9/8/2013)

The Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Department of Science, Education, Natural Resources and Environment (MPI/DSENRE) is implementing the UNDP Sustainable Development and Climate Planning project in Viet Nam. The Project run from February 2009, and in late 2011, project was given extension to finish at end of 2014. 
 
Project undergone almost four and half year with activities prepared and implemented in past years are relatively comprehensive towards four expected outputs.
 
In year 2013 project mainly provides support to VGGS implementation. Beside supporting for set-up and enhancing Climate Fund (CF) Taskforce to be base for effective mobilization and utilization of ODA, and other funds for the effective implementation of VGGS and in responding to international support requirements on a proper framework for implementation organization, project is conducting the drafting action plan for VGGS and Climate Public Expenditure and Investment Review (CPEIR).
 
A team was selected to draft Green Growth Action Plan. The first draft was presented by team leader at project meeting in Nha Trang, 7th Jun’ 2013, from comments of participants, after that the 1st consultation workshop was organized in Hanoi on 21st June 2013 with the wide participations of development partners. The constructive comments are supporting drafting team to improve the new revision.
 
One key point released from the 1st consultation workshop is active role of ministries, provinces and enterprises in defining GHG emission reduction targets though policy and technical actions and further consultation to enrich contents and feasibility of the action plan. Given nature of the work, to ensure quality and the draft action plan, the MPI leaders and DSENRE find urgent need to present the revised draft of action plan and receive comments of ministries, provinces and enterprises by end of August 2013.
