Targeting a 23% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030
As Vietnam advances its Net Zero 2050 roadmap and promotes technological innovation and smart manufacturing through policies such as Resolution 57-NQ/TW, and in line with SCG’s Inclusive Green Growth strategy, Song Gianh Cement is implementing a range of initiatives to reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency, and develop environmentally friendly construction materials, while modernizing its logistics system to strengthen supply capacity. As of 2025, the Group’s cement operations in Central Vietnam have reduced CO₂ emissions by approximately 9% compared to the 2020 baseline and aim to achieve a 23% reduction by 2030.
To support this goal, the plant has collaborated with specialized partners to co-process approximately 140,000 - 200,000 tons of waste annually as alternative fuel and raw materials. At the same time, the company continues to develop key products such as SCG Low Carbon cement, which incorporates SCG Nano technology and meets national green building standards.
In addition to emission reduction initiatives in production, the company is accelerating automation in operations and logistics to improve coordination efficiency and market responsiveness. In 2026, SCG plans to invest approximately USD 3.5 million in Auto Truck systems at the Song Gianh Cement plant to further optimize loading and transportation across the supply chain.
Mr. Supakit Phucharoensilp, Operation Director - Vietnam shared: “After two decades of development in Central Vietnam, Song Gianh Cement is entering a new phase focused on improving operational efficiency, reducing emissions, and applying technological innovation and automation across the entire production and logistics chain. In line with SCG’s green development strategy and Vietnam’s sustainable growth goals, we aim to gradually strengthen our capacity to produce low-carbon construction materials in Central Vietnam while continuing to contribute to infrastructure development and local communities.”
20 years of impact: Building trust through key infrastructure projects
Over the past two decades, the Song Gianh Cement brand has supported numerous infrastructure and civil construction projects across Central Vietnam, contributing to the socio-economic development of Quang Tri Province and neighboring areas. The company’s products have been used in major national transportation projects such as Mai Son - National Highway 45, Nghi Son - Dien Chau, and Cam Lo - La Son, while also being widely trusted by contractors and households in residential construction.
The company has also maintained a strong commitment to social responsibility. To date, Song Gianh Cement has contributed more than VND 6.5 billion to community and education initiatives, including 2,437 tons of cement donated for community infrastructure projects. The company also provides stable employment for local workers and collaborates with SCG to promote environmentally friendly building material distribution within its dealer network.
Entering a new phase of development, Song Gianh Cement will continue improving operational efficiency and expanding low-carbon solutions, supporting infrastructure and urban development projects while contributing to the green transformation of Vietnam’s construction materials industry.
