Affirming the Commitment to Sustainable Development: Vietlott Maintains International Standards on Responsible Gaming

Vietnam Lottery Company (Vietlott) has recently been re-certified by the World Lottery Association (WLA) at Level 3 under the Responsible Gaming Framework. This re-certification marks a continuation following Vietlott’s initial achievement of Level 3 in 2021, demonstrating their long-term commitment to maintaining international standards and further reinforcing their position in complying with global benchmarks while promoting sustainable development in Vietnam’s lottery sector.

The WLA Responsible Gaming Framework is a comprehensive set of standards designed to support lottery organizations in establishing and operating governance systems that protect players and minimize the negative impacts of gaming activities. The framework consists of four levels, from Level 1 to Level 4, with Level 3 considered an advanced level. Level 3 requires organizations to establish and effectively operate a comprehensive management system that integrates responsible gaming principles across all business activities.

Maintaining Level 3 certification demonstrates that Vietlott not only meets WLA’s stringent criteria but also ensures consistency in implementing policies and programs related to Responsible Gaming. This serves as clear evidence of the company’s long-term efforts to balance business growth objectives with their social responsibilities.

While implementing the Responsible Gaming Framework, Vietlott has proactively developed and deployed a range of synchronized solutions. Firstly, a Responsible Gaming policy system aligned with WLA standards and tailored to Vietnam’s practical conditions. This system is designed to guide agents, points of sale, and players to participate in lottery sales and purchases in a controlled and appropriate manner, in line with individual financial capacity, thereby protecting consumers and contributing positively to the community. Vietlott also places strong emphasis on training for their network of agents, points of sale, and employees. These training programs are conducted regularly to equip staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify potential risk indicators and to guide players in adhering to Responsible Gaming principles.

In addition, Vietlott focuses on building a robust internal system to ensure effective monitoring of business activities, as well as timely identification and handling of risks related to inappropriate gaming behaviors or invalid ticket sales. This system plays a crucial role in maintaining transparency and safety across all operations.

Furthermore, Vietlott actively promotes communication initiatives to raise public awareness of Responsible Gaming. Through diverse communication channels, as well as their agents and points of sale, Vietlott provides information, recommendations, and clear messages to help players understand the entertainment nature of lottery products and engage in responsible play.

Aligned with the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) in encouraging Vietnamese enterprises to effectively implement environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria, Vietlott’s continued Level 3 certification under the Responsible Gaming Framework is not only a professional achievement but also of significant importance in applying international standards, enhancing social responsibility, and advancing sustainable development. This serves as a vital foundation for Vietlott’s sustainable growth and contributes to strengthening the image of Vietnam’s lottery industry in their journey toward international integration.

In the near future, Vietlott aims to further enhance their governance system and apply AI technologies to improve the effectiveness of Responsible Gaming programs. At the same time, the company seeks to progressively move toward higher standards within the WLA Responsible Gaming Framework, in line with their development conditions and long-term strategy.
