In Hanoi, on November 8, 2024, Samsung Vietnam held its second Corporate Social Responsibility Day (CSR Day) to showcase the flagship community projects currently being implemented by Samsung in Vietnam, as well as to express gratitude to the partner agencies that have actively collaborated with Samsung on social responsibility activities over the past years.
The event was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Hoi – Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs; Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hoa – Director General of the International Cooperation Department - Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism; Mr. Pham Nguyen Hung – Director General of the Industry Agency - Ministry of Industry and Trade, along with representatives from various government ministries, provincial leaders, non-governmental organizations, and Samsung partners in Vietnam. On behalf of Samsung Vietnam, Mr. Choi Joo Ho – President of Samsung Vietnam Complex, and the leadership of Samsung's entities in Vietnam were present.

Initiated in 2023, Samsung CSR Day is held annually to share Samsung’s successful social responsibility models and spread the spirit of engaging in social responsibility activities to other businesses, organizations, and individuals. This year’s event featured various activities, including The Exhibition of notable Social Responsibility Projects, and The Recognition of partners, individuals, and groups who have made significant contributions to Samsung's community activities in Vietnam. Furthermore, as part of the event, Samsung Vietnam donated 230 wheelchairs to people with disabilities and awarded 630 scholarships to disadvantaged students striving to excel in their studies, as well as 160 scholarships to students with outstanding academic achievements. This effort aims to pay tribute to the local communities in Vietnam and support the educational dreams of students.
Samsung officially invested in Vietnam in 2008 by building a mobile phone manufacturing plant in Bac Ninh. Through continuous investments in Thai Nguyen, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City, Samsung is now operating 6 factories, 1 research and development center, and 1 sales entity. As of the end of 2023, Samsung’s cumulative investment in Vietnam totaled 22.4 billion USD, reaffirming Samsung's status as the largest foreign investor in Vietnam. Most recently, with a decision to invest an additional 1.8 billion USD, Samsung has demonstrated its ambition to make Vietnam a global hub for cutting-edge display manufacturing. This latest plan underscores Samsung's strong commitment to sustainable development in Vietnam. Prior to this, Samsung had fulfilled its promise to make Vietnam the largest global mobile phone manufacturing hub and a key research and development center for Samsung Group.
Along with proud achievements in business activities, Samsung's social responsibility activities have also been continuously maintained and developed both in terms of investment scale and implementation frequency, with the overarching vision: Together for Tomorrow, Enabling People. From training programs for future technology talents to humanitarian support activities for the community, Samsung is realizing its commitment to sustainable development and partnership with Vietnam.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Nguyen Van Hoi acknowledged and appreciated Samsung's efforts in community projects in Vietnam. Particularly, Samsung's efforts in fulfilling its social responsibilities have inspired other enterprises. Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Hoi expressed his hope that, with its strong potential, Samsung will continue to strengthen its cooperative activities in the future, truly becoming a significant bridge in the excellent cooperative relationship between Vietnam and South Korea.

In 2024, Samsung focused on implementing and achieving significant success in its notable social responsibility activities.
Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is a competition encouraging students to apply STEM knowledge to research and use technology to address community-related issues. Launched in Vietnam in 2019, the competition has achieved remarkable success. Starting with about 500 students participating in the first competition, by the sixth year, this number has increased over 300 times to more than 150,000 students, along with nearly 2,300 entries from many secondary and high schools nationwide. This has helped Solve for Tomorrow maintain its position as a flagship social responsibility activity of Samsung Vietnam.
Notably, in 2024, Samsung also contributed to bringing the creative ideas of Vietnamese students to the world when Nguyen Hoang Dung – a contestant from the team that won the first prize in Solve for Tomorrow 2023 – became the only Vietnamese student to be among the 10 ambassadors for the new Digital Olympic community. This community was created with the goal of helping young people engage, advocate, and create in the spirit of Olympic values.
Samsung Innovation Campus is a global Information Technology and Communication education program for the youth, providing technology knowledge from basic to advanced levels through three courses: IoT (Internet of Things), AI (Artificial Intelligence), Big Data, and one Basic Programming Skills course. It also includes career orientation and soft skills training to enhance comprehensive abilities. In Vietnam, the SIC project was launched in 2019. After five years, the project has trained over 12,000 students nationwide.
The Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) project for the 2023-2024 academic year achieved breakthrough results with nearly 6,400 participants – double the number of students from the 2022-2023 academic year. Among these, Samsung Vietnam collaborated with the National Innovation Center (NIC) to implement six high-tech training classes for over 200 students at the NIC Hoa Lac facility.
Supporting contestants in the WorldSkills Competition
Since 2014, aiming to contribute to the training of high-skilled human resources in Vietnam, Samsung has collaborated with the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training to implement the “Special Training Program for Contestants Selected for the WorldSkills Competition”. With Samsung's support, Vietnamese contestants have achieved impressive results. Over five competitions, 11 contestants supported by Samsung have won 2 Bronze Medals and 6 Medallions for Excellence for the Vietnamese team, along with 1 National First Prize.
In 2024, at the WorldSkills Competition held in France, the team trained by Samsung excelled, earning 2 Medallions for Excellence and 1 National First Prize.
The “Samsung Hope School” project was created to support the education of disadvantaged children living near Samsung factories, providing them with access to comprehensive educational programs and safe, healthy learning environments.
Currently, the Samsung Hope School project is operational in four provinces: Bac Ninh (2013), Thai Nguyen (2018), Bac Giang (2021), and Lang Son (2022), providing free educational opportunities to over 5,000 disadvantaged children.
In 2024, Samsung continues to expand by starting the construction of the fifth Samsung Hope School in Binh Phuoc and plans to implement the project in central Vietnam, projected to be located in Da Nang City, bringing more learning opportunities to students across the country.
Samsung – Promoting Vietnam's Supporting Industry
Alongside nurturing the younger generation, with the philosophy of "Prosperity Together", Samsung's social responsibility activities also aim to support Vietnamese businesses in enhancing their competitiveness and expanding their supply chains. Since 2015, Samsung has implemented various programs to support Vietnam's supporting industry. To date, 379 Vietnamese enterprises have been supported in production improvement, 406 productivity/quality consultants have completed training, 209 mold engineers have been upskilled, 123 smart factory consultants have been trained, and smart factory development has been supported for 72 enterprises. Currently, the number of tier 1 and tier 2 suppliers from Vietnam in Samsung's global supply chain has increased from 25 companies in 2014 to 306 companies by the end of 2023.
Regarding humanitarian support activities for the community, with six factories and one research and development center in Vietnam, Samsung has launched numerous social responsibility programs, calling on the participation of over 100,000 Samsung employees across Vietnam.
CSR Kiosk
Since 2019, Samsung Vietnam has initiated the installation of donation kiosks named "CSR Kiosks". Through the CSR Kiosk model, each employee can spread the spirit of sharing and community support in a quick and convenient manner.
In 2024 alone, approximately 42,000 Samsung employees participated in donations at CSR Kiosks, contributing a total of about 7.6 billion VND.
Currently, Samsung's entities operate a total of 24 CSR Kiosks, enabling Samsung Vietnam employees to contribute to many meaningful programs and support various difficult circumstances with a total donation amount of over 24 billion VND.
Voluntary Blood Donation Program “Shared Vietnamese blood”
With the goal of "For a Healthy Vietnam," the voluntary blood donation program “Shared Vietnamese blood” has become one of the many annual volunteer activities of Samsung employees, starting from 2010. After more than 14 years of the program, over 124,000 units of blood have been donated by Samsung employees.
The 2024 “Shared Vietnamese blood” program attracted around 9,500 Samsung employees, helping to donate over 9,200 units of blood to the community.
Additionally, many other meaningful CSR activities were carried out by Samsung Vietnam in 2024: Launching a new S-hub (Sharing Hub) space at the National Library of Vietnam, offering a more modern space to inspire creative learning and knowledge exchange for young people; and donating 10 billion VND through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to support the localities affected by Typhoon No. 3.

SOC TRANG, VIETNAM – A groundbreaking initiative to address the growing environmental challenge of plastic waste from aquaculture was officially launched in Soc Trang Province. On October 29, 2024, key stakeholders gathered for the project launch event, "Establishing a Sustainable, Efficient, and Scalable System for Collecting and Converting Used Pond Liners in Soc Trang Province."
With more than 30 years of operation in Vietnam, C.P. Vietnam Corporation (CPV) has always accompanied and supported the local community, especially in Ben Tre province – where the company has production facilities such as feedmil factories, frozen food processing factories and shrimp hatcheries.
