[Lang Son, July 31, 2020] - Today, Samsung Vietnam, the Department of Foreign Affairs of Lang Son Province and Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI)/Korea have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for implementation the Samsung Hope School in Mai Pha commune, Lang Son city, Lang Son province. This is the fourth school in the Samsung Hope School chain in Vietnam, after Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen and Bac Giang.

Inheriting success from the previous Samsung Hope School projects, Samsung Hope School project in Lang Son continues to be built with modern equipment, a synchronized system including all areas for classrooms, libraries, play areas, dining-rooms, sanitary units. Besides, with the purpose of creating comprehensive educational development opportunities, Samsung Hope School will be the place to implement the "Child Development Program (CDP)" for 300 disadvantaged students from primary to secondary schools in Lang Son. Accordingly, students will have the opportunity to train and develop specific gifts such as music, arts, and English; experience various vocational training courses for future careers; participate in sports activities, exhibitions or travel. In addition, students are also raising awareness about physical and social fields through health training, medical examination, medication support or learn about drugs, gender as well as many other useful activities.

In particular, the project is also in coordination with MSD Vietnam (Management and Sustainable Development Institute) to support the training to teachers before participating in teaching at the school to ensure bringing the most perfect learning and experience environment for children.

The cost for implementing Samsung Hope School in Lang Son in 10 years is nearly VND 20 billion, of which Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) sponsors more than VND 8 billion to renovate, construct facilities, purchase equipment and the expense for project management. The remaining cost for implementing the "Children Development Program - CDP" project in the first 10 years will be mobilized from other charities, benefactors, and Samsung Vietnam.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Choi Joo Ho, President of Samsung Vietnam remarked: "With the philosophy "Education for the future generation", through the Hope School project, we hope to open up opportunities for education and nurture the dreams of students, who are future generations of Lang Son Province. After projects in Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen and Bac Giang, Hope School in Lang Son will be the fourth school to continue contributing to the Samsung Hope School project chain across Vietnam to bring a brighter future for many Vietnamese children”.

Samsung Hope School is one of many key social responsibility projects with the mission to spread knowledge, share vision and build future for Vietnamese young generation. The project is expected to contribute to improving living and learning conditions for disadvantaged and poor students; thereby contributing to the development of local educations, especially education in primary and secondary schools.

Prior to this event, Samsung had built two Hope Schools in Bac Ninh in 2013 and in Thai Nguyen in 2018. Most recently, on July 27, 2020, the Hope School Project in Bac Giang officially held the groundbreaking ceremony in Dinh Huong hamlet, Thang town, Hiep Hoa district, Bac Giang province on an area of ​​8100 m2 including: 01 2-storey classroom building, 01 welfare building, 01 multi-function building, soccer field, parking lot, garden. According to the plan, this project will be completed in early 2021.
