Samsung Solve For Tomorrow 2020 has been kick-started in Vietnam

Solve For Tomorrow by Samsung is the competition which encourages students to leverage technology and ideate for solutions to address social issues in local community.

Working with Department of Education and Training of Hoa Binh province

[Ho Chi Minh City, June 29th, 2020] – Today, Samsung Vina Electronics, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education & Training and Junior Achievement Vietnam (JA Vietnam) has launched the program Samsung Solve For Tomorrow 2020 (SFT 2020) which is the competition for secondary and high school students nationwide.

 

With the theme of applying Robotics in researching and developing solutions for Education, Environment, Medical & Health problems, Samsung Vina desires to encourage Vietnamese students to take a closer look to local issues around them and think about how they can make a meaningful impact on the community.

 

SFT 2020 is also a platform to provide knowledge and soft skills training including Design Thinking, Problem-solving, Time Management, Creative Thinking, Teamwork and Presentation skills  to help improving the teachers and students’ abilities in research methods, creativity and presentation for when developing their projects.

Solve For Tomorrow is a Samsung’s global initiative, which has been launched in Vietnam since 2019 and attracted 436 students and 103 teachers in 56 schools in Ben Tre, Tay Ninh, Quang Nam, and Dong Thap provinces. This is the second year Samsung has implemented this program in Vietnam.

SFT 2020 is expanded nationwide, and officially kick-started on June 29, 2020 with 3 rounds:

  1. Preliminary Round: from June 29th, 2020 to August 31st, 2020: includes 2 key activities which are online training and online examination submission. All teachers and students register for online training and submit their innovative ideas or solutions.  40 winner teams will be selected for the next round.

  2. Pitching Round: from September 15th, 2020, to October 23rd, 2020: the finalist teams will be grouped for advanced training for prototype development. 10 winner teams will be selected after joining the pitching for their projects.

  3. Finale Round will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on November 28th, 2020. Results and awards ceremony will take place on the same day.

 

The total prize value of Samsung Solve For Tomorrow 2020 is up to nearly VND 600 million.

From Maker to Market! The USAID BUILD-IT & Dow Vietnam STEM Program connects entrepreneurship and engineering

Monday, June 22nd, 2020 (9:00 AM – 12:30 PM) Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Building University-Industry Learning and Development through Innovation and Technology (BUILD-IT) Alliance, Arizona State University (ASU) and the Dow Vietnam STEM Program launched the Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) program in Vietnam in January 2018. The EPICS program is an internationally recognized multi-disciplinary social entrepreneurship challenge for STEM student teams to collaboratively brainstorm, design, prototype, and test their engineering-based solutions to local challenges.

AES Mong Duong's CSR initiatives benefit 1,500 local children when they return to school in Quang Ninh province, Vietnam

Quang Ninh, 12 June 2020, AES Mong Duong announced its Back to School Support CSR program, which will benefit 1,500 students at the Mong Duong High School and Nguyen Trai Elementary School in Cam Pha city, Quang Ninh province, Vietnam. Dow Vietnam donates necessary medical supplies to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases and Dong Nai General Hospital

Hanoi, Vietnam, Monday, June 01, 2020, Dow Chemical Vietnam LLC (Dow Vietnam) donated the necessary medical supplies to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, including: 1,000 pieces of 3M medical masks and 60 four-liter cans of hand sanitizers, which are worth over VND 100 million. This grant project was implemented by the Project Office of the Resources Exchange International Organization (REI) in Vietnam through the connection of the People's Aid Coordinating Committee (PACCOM) with Dow Vietnam. Dow commits $3 million to aid COVID-19 relief efforts and adjusts manufacturing processes to produce hand sanitizer
