The program is a realization of the cooperation on "Human resource training project for mold manufacturing industry" signed between the MoIT and Samsung Vietnam within the 9th meeting of the Vietnam - South Korea Joint Committee on cooperation in Power, Energy, Industry and Trade took place on October 22, 2019.
Hanoi, July 14, 2020 - Today, Samsung Vietnam coordinates with the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) to hold the opening ceremony of the cooperation program for training human resources for the Vietnam’s mold manufacturing industry. Attending the Opening Ceremony are the presence of Mr. Park Noh Wan - Republic of Korea (RoK) Ambassador to Vietnam and representatives of RoK Embassy in Vietnam; Mr. Do Thang Hai - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade together with leaders of the Department of Industry and related units of the MoIT. For Samsung Vietnam, there is the presence of Mr. Choi Joo Ho, President of Samsung Vietnam together with some senior leaders.
The development and training of experts in the mold manufacturing industry is extremely important, especially in the context of the mold engineering being considered as a core engineering industry and the foundation of manufacturing industries. Enhancing mold engineering technical capability is basically acquiring an advanced manufacturing technique to optimize production quality to meet visual or tactile evaluation criterias across all plastic injection, pressure stamping or precision-machined products; hence, greatly contributes in Vietnam industrial production, especially in hardware production for electronic devices and automobiles, motorbikes manufacture industry.

Based on that meaning, this collaborative project of Samsung will support the training of 200 technicians in the mold industry in order to improve the production capacity and the autonomy of molds for the basic manufacturing industries of Vietnam. Accordingly, the program will take place for 4 years (2020 ~ 2023), with 2 training courses per year. Each course will be hold in 14 weeks (6 weeks of theory, 4 weeks of practice in Vietnam, 4 weeks of practice in Korea) with diverse training contents: Integrated creative activities (design and manufacture molds); focus on training in three areas: plastic injection mold, punch die mold and precision processing; Training technicians on system management, design source management and standard management; Practicing directly in design stages, CNC / EDM, cutting and wrapping electrode coils, etc. ; Practicing mold assembly, testing, inspection and modification.
The first course will be held in Hanoi on July 13, 2020 with the participation of 27 trainees.

With the commitment to develop co-prosperity with Vietnam, besides the cooperation program to train manpower for the mold industry, Samsung has been making great efforts to support the development of the supporting industry in Vietnam with many practical activities. Previously, in 2018, Samsung cooperated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to train 207 Vietnamese consultants to become the key human resources in the field of consulting and training for supporting industry enterprises.
Along with it are many other activities such as the annual auxiliary industry exhibition workshop; Organize consulting programs on product improvement and quality for businesses, which have been directly guided by Korean experts since 2015.
Over the years of searching, connecting, and supporting Vietnamese enterprises, the number of Tier-1 suppliers of Samsung has strongly increased. Compared to only 4 tier 1 suppliers in 2014, by the end of 2019, there were 42 enterprises, expected to be 50 enterprises by 2020.

Monday, June 22nd, 2020 (9:00 AM – 12:30 PM) Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Building University-Industry Learning and Development through Innovation and Technology (BUILD-IT) Alliance, Arizona State University (ASU) and the Dow Vietnam STEM Program launched the Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) program in Vietnam in January 2018. Quang Ninh, 12 June 2020, AES Mong Duong announced its Back to School Support CSR program, which will benefit 1,500 students at the Mong Duong High School and Nguyen Trai Elementary School in Cam Pha city, Quang Ninh province, Vietnam. The support, worth nearly US$17,000 in total, includes the renovation of lighting systems and improvement of hygiene conditions. Hanoi, Vietnam, Monday, June 01, 2020, Dow Chemical Vietnam LLC (Dow Vietnam) donated the necessary medical supplies to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, including: 1,000 pieces of 3M medical masks and 60 four-liter cans of hand sanitizers, which are worth over VND 100 million. This grant project was implemented by the Project Office of the Resources Exchange International Organization (REI) in Vietnam through the connection of the People's Aid Coordinating Committee (PACCOM) with Dow Vietnam. This is a meaningful program, with the desire to support the frontline hospitals to prevent and fight against Covid-19, helping the community health resilience and to join hands with the whole country efforts to effectively prevent and control Covid-19.
