SAMSUNG MULTI-STAKEHOLDER FORUM 2020: “MANAGING CRISIS IN A SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE MANNER: EXPERIENCE SHARING FROM COPING WITH COVID-19 PANDEMIC”

[Hanoi, October 29, 2020] Today, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Samsung Vietnam and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor jointly organize the Multi-Stakeholder Forum 2020 with the topic Managing crisis in a socially responsible manner: Experience sharing from coping with covid-19 pandemic”. The Multi-Stakeholder Forum 2020 attracts the representatives’ participation from the National Assembly, the Government, the Ministries and Ministerial-level Agencies, along with nearly 250 guests from non-governmental organizations, associations, research institutes, experts, trade union officials and businesses via the virtual forum platform meeting.

The Multi-Stakeholder Forum 2020 is organized in a special context, when the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread globally. In Vietnam, the COVID-19 epidemic has been well controlled, but the risk of infection still exists. The unprecedented challenge from the COVID-19 pandemic has enhanced more than ever the values of 'co-prosperity' and 'responding to crises in a socially responsible way'.

According to Mr. Vu Tien Loc, Member of the 14th National Assembly, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam: “In the human history, we have not ever seen the world change significantly and quickly like this. Society is constantly changing, requiring Government, economy, and enterprise to be resilient and constantly mobilize and innovate to keep up with the speed and to develop sustainably”.

With sessions focusing on the problem of socially responsible response to a crisis, where solutions put people first with the help of technology. The Multi-Stakeholder Forum 2020 is expected to contribute to joint efforts for post-pandemic recovery and responsibly responding to crises that may continue to occur in the future.

At the event, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, Member of the 14th National Assembly, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also affirmed: “Trade unions at all levels actively participate, with the political system, the employer in protecting the health and lives of laborers; take care and protect the interests of employees, encourage employees together to overcome difficulties, implement "dual goals", to have sustainable jobs and stable income, help businesses stay firmly after Covid 19.

On behalf of the initiator of the Multilateral Forum initiative to connect partners to join hands in solving social issues of concern in Vietnam, Mr. Choi Joo Ho, President of Samsung Vietnam - shared: “Samsung's annual Multi-Stakeholder Forum initiative and partners hope to be a place for all stakeholders to cooperate and build together. We hope that the Multi-Stakeholder Forum 2020, along with other initiatives to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic around the world in the past time and in the coming time, will contribute to inspiring stakeholders, including us, to become more cohesive, stronger, resilient, and sharper to similar crisis that may arise in the future, emphasize the importance of coordinating action and responsible responses”.

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused negative impacts on Vietnam, businesses all over the world and Samsung Vietnam are not out of those influences. However, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, in addition to maintaining welfare regimes and striving to take effective measures to protect the health and safety of employees and local communities, Samsung has always made sure that no employees will lose their jobs and take unpaid leave. In the coming time, Samsung Vietnam will continue its efforts to actively implement regulations and measures to prevent epidemics of the Government of Vietnam as well as Samsung Group to achieve the dual goal of ensuring the health and safety of all employees while maintaining production stability and export targets.

Dow Vietnam Collaborated with Partners to Promote Advocacy and Education to Tackle Plastics Waste issue in Phu Yen

Saturday, October 24, 2020, in Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen Province, Dow Chemical Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Dow Vietnam) and the Centre for Supporting Green Development (GreenHub) collaborated with local government authorities to host a program "Communication and Education on Tackling Plastics Waste issue in Phu Yen." This program included a series of activities: beach clean-up and monitoring marine plastics waste, collecting coastal waste database and the contest of "Green School - Blue Sea" and taking commitment of “School Zero Waste” model.

In the morning of September 28, 2020, Dow Vietnam Team joined hands with Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), People’s Committee of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province and Parliamentary Delegation of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province to host “the Campaign to make the world cleaner” and “the activity of donating 300 water tanks and 50 trash bins to fishermen in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province reaching out to sea and local tourism areas.”

PNJ DONATED MEDICAL EQUIPMENT FOR HOSPITALS IN QUANG NAM AND QUANG TRI PROVINCES

On the afternoon of September 10th, 2020, the representative of Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ) presented medical equipment to a number of hospitals in Quang Nam and Quang Tri provinces, aiming to support for the Covid -19 prevention, as well as for future treatment activities of the Hospital.

On September 18, 2020, INSEE Vietnam cooperated with HCM University of Technology to hold the inauguration ceremony of rural roads in Thap Muoi district, Dong Thap province. The handed-over works are part of 20th consecutive partnership year of INSEE Vietnam accompanied by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Can Tho University.
