SAMSUNG VIETNAM LAUNCHES LARGE-SCALE BLOOD DONATION PROGRAM WHILE ENSURING SAFETY AGAISNT THE PANDEMIC

[Bac Ninh, December 3, 2020] – Today, Samsung Vietnam organizes the Launching Ceremony of Voluntary Blood Donation Program "Blood for Vietnamese 2020" on a large scale with more than 10,000 blood units expected to be received.

In 2020, in order to comply with the Government's regulations on strengthening the prevention of COVID-19 pandemic in the new normal period, at the blood donation points, Samsung cooperates closely with the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to implement well prevention measures including: Medical declaration of information related to COVID-19 pandemic; measuring body temperature for all employees participating in blood donation; screen for respiratory symptoms before entering the blood donation area, ask staff to wear a mask when participating in blood donation, and ensuring distancing according to regulations.

To ensure epidemic prevention regulations, staff participating in blood donation are required to wear masks and to keep a safe distance.

At the launching ceremony, Mr. Choi Joo Ho, President of Samsung Vietnam, shared: “Thanks to the timely guidance of the Government in the prevention of COVID-19 pandemic, Samsung Vietnam has quickly overcome difficulties to maintain stability in production and business, while continuing to implement the social responsibility activities safely and ensure effective epidemic prevention measures, including the program “Blood for Vietnamese 2020”. We will continue our efforts to promote and create favourable conditions to encourage Vietnamese as well as South Korean employees in the company to participate in blood donation to contribute to sharing difficulties with patients, especially in time of pandemic and natural disasters.”

The "Blood for Vietnamese 2020" program is launched and implemented at all Samsung Vietnam facilities, including Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV), Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen (SEVT), Samsung Display Vietnam (SDV), Samsung SDI Vietnam (SDIV), Samsung Electro-Mechanics Vietnam (SEMV), Samsung Vietnam Mobile Research and Development Centre (SVMC) and Samsung Vina Electronics Company (SAVINA).

According to Ph.D. MD. Bach Quoc Khanh, Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion: “More than a decade ago, until now, Samsung Vietnam has donated a total of nearly 83,000 blood units, continuously being the leading company in the Northern Vietnam in terms of the amount of blood received each year. We highly appreciate and express our thankfulness to the precious companionship of Samsung Vietnam and the compassionate hearts of Samsung employees. With the readiness for donating blood, they contribute to ensuring the blood supply for emergencies and treatment, especially at the scarcity time of blood supply on the Lunar New Year."

At the event, Mr. Le Xuan Son, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, Head of the Red Sunday Organizing Committee also highly appreciates the companionship of Samsung Vietnam over the years to spread the lofty and beautiful message – donate blood to save people. “Every single blood unit is also treasured to the patient and will be best donated from healthy people who voluntarily donate blood regularly. The healthy life of Samsung employees enhances the blood’s quality, which is always appreciated and has really become a special medicine to help cure many sick people and share the responsibility in reducing the medical burden, especially the time of scarcity of blood supply during the Lunar New Year”, Mr. Son said.

Always maintaining a large amount of blood contribution to the National Blood Bank for many years, Voluntary Blood Donation is not only an important social responsibility program of Samsung but also a proud tradition of Samsung employees, showing the spirit of solidarity and the willingness to share difficulties with the community of enthusiastic young generation. Previously, through the CSR Kiosks at the Company, the employees participated in swiping donation cards in the programs to support the prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic and share difficulties with the people in the Central of Vietnam affected by floods.

SAMSUNG VIETNAM FACTORIES AND EMPLOYEES DONATED VND 5 BILLION TO THE FLOOD-HIT CENTRAL PROVINCES

Factories and employees of Samsung Vietnam donated VND 5 billion to support residents in the central provinces affected by floods in recent times. Dow Vietnam Collaborated with Partners to Promote Advocacy and Education to Tackle Plastics Waste issue in Phu Yen

Saturday, October 24, 2020, in Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen Province, Dow Chemical Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Dow Vietnam) and the Centre for Supporting Green Development (GreenHub) collaborated with local government authorities to host a program "Communication and Education on Tackling Plastics Waste issue in Phu Yen." This program included a series of activities: beach clean-up and monitoring marine plastics waste, collecting coastal waste database and the contest of "Green School - Blue Sea" and taking commitment of “School Zero Waste” model.
