On 10th August 2022, INSEE Vietnam was honored to win the 2022 "Top 50 Corporate Sustainability Awards" by Nhip Cau Dau Tu magazine. This award is to appreciate & recognize efforts that an enterprise has made in sustainable development, contributing to create a better and more livable life, in compliance with the brand philosophy that INSEE has set and aimed to.

To be selected for this award, participants must fully meet rigorous criteria of the Corporate Sustainability Awards (CSA) indices, which are built as a corporate measure of value, based on standards of sustainable development in economy, environment and society. Over 28 years of development, INSEE Vietnam has invariably strived to balance between sustainable development and business activities in order to bring positive values to Vietnamese people and contribute to the economic development nationwide as well as people and the environment worldwide.

In addition to the aim of bringing "green cement" products with outstanding quality, INSEE also sets a target to control emissions in production stages and throughout the product’s life cycle. In particular, INSEE Vietnam is the pioneering company whose an entire product portfolio has held the "Green Label" certificate certified by the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC). The "Green Label" certificate for INSEE Vietnam Cement products is the result of a strict & comprehensive evaluation process with high standards of SGBC. Furthermore, INSEE has become the first cement company in Southeast Asia to achieve the international EPD certificate (Environmental Product Declaration). This is considered as a serious commitment of the company to control & reduce negative impacts on the environment possibly caused by the products and services which the company is doing business, as well as to transparently & completely provide required reports. INSEE focuses not only on improving technologies to optimize raw materials and control emissions, in compliance with legal regulations in Vietnam and other international standards, but also on the activities in conservation of biodiveristy. Over the past period of time, INSEE has developed projects to restore mining sites, carried out plans for biodiversity protection, including projects on supporting the Phu My Wetland Nature Reserve and establishing the Kien Luong Karst Nature Reserve in Kien Luong district (Kien Giang province) in alliance with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Vietnam.
INSEE also places key importance on the Social Responsibility Pillar. At INSEE Vietnam, the Company implements policies and activities in accordance with SEDEX/SMETA standards for businesses to ensure legal rights of employees complying with current Vietnamese labour laws. Moreover, INSEE constantly organizes social responsibility activities such as building concrete roads and bridges, repairing and ending houses for disadvantaged households and taking care of many residential citizens throughout Southern Vietnam, especially the areas where the company operates.

After 03 months of launching, the 2022 INSEE Prize competition has presently entered the most exciting stage when the Board of Jury has exceedingly been fair and strict to choose the Top 20 outstanding projects to be in the Semi-final round. Creative topics of Sustainable Construction and Environment from groups of students in the Semi-final have brought many unique & meaningful ideas that probably contribute a great deal of practical value to the community.

Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province, August 06th, 2022 – SCG Chemicals (SCGC) and its subsidiary Long Son Petrochemicals (LSP) - owner of the first integrated petrochemicals complex in Vietnam in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Vung Tau City planted 400 trees in the area of Nui Lon (Vung Tau City), equivalent to 3.26 hectares of forest.

Ho Chi Minh City, August 19, 2022 – Today, USAID BUILD-IT Program and Dow Vietnam hosted their 4th annual investor-style pitch competition, Maker to Entrepreneur (MEP): Venture Demo Day under the framework of the USAID BUILD-IT and Dow Vietnam STEM Program, for over 100 engineering students and guests from across Vietnam. Young engineers gathered to compete for a total of $1,000 in start-up funding. The business savvy demonstrated by the students exemplified how engineers can use market forces to scale their innovative projects into in demand products.
On 7-8 July, 2022, students awarded ‘AES Future Energy Scholarship’ and lecturers from three universities, namely the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Electric Power University and Hanoi University of Science – Vietnam National University, joined a visit to the Mong Duong 2 Thermal Power Plant.

AES Mong Duong has been awarded the prestigious Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Gold Medal for an eighth consecutive year, in recognition of its practices and achievements in maintaining world-class safety standards in overall health and safety performance, policies and procedures.
This is a follow-up activity after the Kick-off Ceremony of the smart factory development cooperation project, which took place on May 24 and 25, 2022, in the provinces including Bac Ninh, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, Hung Yen, and Ha Nam.
To offset CO2 emissions from the company’s production and operational activities, JTI Vietnam has launched many projects from 2020 under the program “Net-Zero Carbon Emission”. In 2022, the company continues to sequestrate 202 tons of CO2 by burying bamboo to create biochar and tending to bamboo forests. This initiative is implemented by JTI Vietnam in Thanh Hoa, in partnership with Water Solutions SEA.
