In the third quarter of 2023, INSEE Vietnam organized a Handover Ceremony for 5 houses in Binh An, Binh Tri, Duong Hoa, Kien Binh communes and Kien Luong town, Kien Luong district, Kien Giang province. This is the project that is kicked-off by INSEE since the beginning of 2023, which aims to provide homes for disadvantaged households and officially handed over to homeowners with the presence of local authorities and supportive partners.
During the journey of having a plant operating in Kien Luong district, Kien Giang province, INSEE understands thoroughly of the living conditions in the local community. Many households are living in makeshift houses, which pose numerous risks to their family members, including the elderly and children. For this reason, INSEE organized the construction of Low-income houses over many years, in collaboration with local authorities to actualize the transformation of severely deteriorated homes. From the beginning of 2023, the project of building 5 Low-income houses commenced, with the main sponsorship from INSEE Vietnam, accompanied by co-sponsors included NS BlueScope Vietnam Co., Ltd, Nippon Paint (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. and LIXIL Vietnam Co., Ltd.
At the end of July 2023, INSEE together with local authorities and partners handed over 2 new spacious and safe houses to Ms. Thi Tinh - 72 years old, living in Rach Dung hamlet, Binh Tri commune, Kien Luong district and Ms. Tran Thi Ly - 72 years old, lives in Ba Nui hamlet, Binh An commune, Kien Luong district, Kien Giang province. The case of the two households were very difficult as they were both old and weak, still living alone in rotten purlin houses with severely damaged corrugated iron roofs for many years. Entering their own house with a completely changed appearance, the elderlies could not hold their emotions and sent sincere thanks to the supporting units.

At the end of August 2023, the remaining 3 houses out of a total of 5 low-income houses were handed over to households by INSEE, local leaders and partners. With the case of Ms. Nguyen Thi Gai's family - 32 years old, she lives with her family of 5 members, including 3 school-age children, under a small unstable house with the corrugated iron roof has been damaged seriously in Kien Thanh hamlet, Kien Binh commune, Kien Luong district. When she held the decision of the commune authorities in her hands, she shared emotionally that she and her family from now would be able to live in a spacious and safe home, a seemingly untouchable dream of her family.

The remaining 2 families are Ms. Duong Thi Lan - 61 years old and Ms. Giang Thi Diem's family - 35 years old, are two difficult cases currently living in Kien Luong town and Duong Hoa commune. Specifically, Ms. Giang Thi Diem does not have a stable job and having a roof of her own, has to rely on relatives' houses to get by, but she has to raise 3 school-age children by herself. As for the case of Ms. Duong Thi Lan, she lives with her child and two young grandchildren in a house that has degraded quite seriously with the old, corrugated iron roof no longer sturdy. With the contribution of INSEE Company and its partners, both households were able to live under a true house, with peace of mind to build a better life for their families and children.

In the Handover Ceremony of 5 Low-income houses, Mr. Vladimir Kouzmine - INSEE Hon Chong Cement Plant Manager had a few words to share: “CSR is one of the core pillars at INSEE in Vietnam and to be more specific, in Kien Luong district, Kien Giang province, where the Hon Chong Cement Plant is operating. Although I just came to Vietnam and have working for less than a year, I can understand that in the Vietnamese culture - “A house is a home”. “A home” with them is deeply meaningful, this is the place where they can settle down and support to build better future for next generations. When I saw the pictures of these dilapidated houses in the proposal, I was dumbfounded. I wonder how they can live in such houses for so long. Therefore, in early 2023, INSEE Vietnam implemented the construction of 05 houses for people in difficult circumstances with the companionship of partners including NS BlueScope Vietnam, Nippon Paint (Vietnam) and LIXIL Vietnam with the enthusiastic support from local authorities. Thank you to our partners and local leaders for joining hands with INSEE to help those families have a true home in life. And in the future, we will continue to join hands in building meaningful houses like this to support local community.”.
