Dow Vietnam Received CSR Award and ESG Impact Recognition 2024

On December 4, 2024, in Hanoi, Dow Vietnam was honored to receive the AmCham Hanoi Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award. The handover ceremony was presided over by United States Ambassador Marc E. Knapper. The 2024 CSR Recognition Award acknowledges the integration of business operations with societal needs, promoting activities that create both long-term economic and social value. To qualify for AmCham’s CSR Recognition Award, a company’s CSR program must excel in four categories:

  1. Addressing business objectives and societal needs.
  2. Creating long-term economic and social gains.
  3. Communicating and sharing best practices.
  4. Ensuring program sustainability.

In 2024, Dow Vietnam actively engaged in various CSR initiatives to support local communities and promote sustainability. A notable example is the Container Library Project, which transformed a shipping container into a library for over 500 students in rural Long An Province. This initiative fosters a reading culture and improves literacy among underprivileged children. Additionally, Dow Vietnam initiated Business Impact Fund Project, promoting sustainable practices, connecting investors with impactful initiatives, and supporting STEM education programs to inspire students pursuing STEM careers.

Excellence in ESG Impact Recognition

Before that, on November 21, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, Dow Vietnam was also recognized for excellence in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. This recognition celebrates AmCham Vietnam members’ significant contributions to creating a positive impact in Vietnam during 2024. The AmCham Excellence in ESG Impact Award aims to address contemporary challenges and contribute to Vietnam’s sustainable and inclusive development.

Dow Vietnam showcased its commitment to ESG through the Sustainable System for Collecting and Converting Used Pond Liners to Address Aquaculture Plastic Waste in Soc Trang Province. This project demonstrates innovative and collaborative strategies to generate positive impacts on people, prosperity, and the planet. Key elements of the project include:

  • Establishing strategic collection points and storage facilities across target areas.
  • Developing efficient collection and transportation systems to manage materials flow.
  • Exploring innovative recycling technologies to maximize value from used pond liners.
  • Providing training and guidance to local stakeholders to ensure long-term system maintenance.
  • Raising community awareness and improving access to plastic recycling initiatives.

The project addresses critical environmental challenges through cross-sector collaboration involving waste collectors, recyclers, farmers, aquaculture industry representatives, and environmental organizations. This initiative also aligns with Vietnam’s national strategy for sustainable development, setting a best-practice example of public-private partnerships tackling pressing environmental issues.

Mr. Loganathan Ravisanker, President of Dow Vietnam said, "We are deeply honored to receive the AmCham Hanoi Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award and the Excellence in ESG Impact Recognition. These laurels are a testament to our unwavering commitment to integrating business operations with societal needs and promoting sustainable practices. We are proud to contribute to Vietnam's sustainable and inclusive development and will continue to strive for excellence in all our endeavors."
