64 HOUSEHOLDS IN SON TRA MOUNTAIN, KIEN GIANG PROVINCE FINALLY HAD FRESH WATER SUPPLY

On 15th Jun 2020, INSEE Vietnam coordinates with Tuoi Tre News and Kien Giang Youth Union to carry out the Inauguration Ceremony of 1.6km long water pipeline construction at Ba Nui hamlet, Binh An commune, Kien Luong district, Kien Giang province with sponsorship amount around 250 million VND.

This is a project in the program " Bring freshwater to Mekong Delta" launched by Tuoi Tre News with the companion funding from Siam City Cement Vietnam Co., Ltd. (INSEE Vietnam).

During the past few years, people in this area had to get water from small rivers and lakes, rainwater to use for daily activities. The current situation is that the amount of water in the lakes this year is seriously deprived due to prolonged drought and saline drought. Sharing with the difficulties of fresh water supply that the local people have to face, the program "Bring freshwater to Mekong Delta" has implemented a project to install the main water pipeline from the pumping station to the residential area with a total dimension of 1.6km long. Subsequently, An Binh water supply station supported the installation of water meters and pipelines from the main pipeline to each households.

This project has a special significance to the local in order to improve the health and quality of life for 250 people living surround Son Tra mountain as well as contribute to the development of infrastructure here. Especially, the project also provides a better condition for more than 100 children currently living in this area to have the opportunity to develop comprehensively in a sustainable environment. At the Inauguration Ceremony, INSEE Hon Chong Plant brings 20 gifts to disadvantaged households of Ba Nui hamlet. "These days, the water is high salinity level, so we cannot use it, daily activities are very difficult. Fortunately, there is a water pipeline to help us" - Ms. Ly Thi Sam (66 years old, the local people) happily sharing.

At the Ceremony, INSEE Hon Chong Plant brings 20 gifts to disadvantaged households

From the beginning of the drought in 2020, Tuoi Tre News has donated 500 stainless steel tanks contain 1,000-liter, 1,400 plastic water tanks contain 500-liter and essential gifts ... worth more than VND 3.7 billion to people severely damaged in 7 provinces such as Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Long An, Vinh Long, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau and Soc Trang. The program "Bring freshwater to Mekong Delta" coordinates with INSEE Vietnam, which brings a cash grant of 500 million VND to donate water tanks for people in Long An and Vinh Long provinces and water pipelines for local people living in Ba Nui hamlet, Binh An commune, Kien Luong district, Kien Giang province, together with 500 tons of cement materials to support the locals to build construction in order to overcome drought and salinity. Mr. Andy White - Director of INSEE Hon Chong Plant shared “INSEE Vietnam always aims at sustainable and long-term values ​​to contribute to the community and society. Through the project with Tuoi Tre News and Kien Giang Youth Union, INSEE Vietnam as well as the company's volunteers are proud of contributing our efforts to build and support local communities, especially in Kien Giang province, where our INSEE Hon Chong Plant operates.”
