Mondelez Kinh Do Vietnam has held the event to launch "Trash Right" initiative in Binh Duong province, Vietnam in December 2023. The program was coordinated and piloted at two schools, namely Tuy An 1 Primary School and Binh Thuan Primary School in Thuan An City, Binh Duong Province, engaging more than 3,000 students, 100 teachers, representatives of local government, Mondelez Kinh Do leadership team and 40 volunteers.
Beyond cultivating environmental awareness, Mondelez Kinh Do contributes tables and chairs crafted from recycled plastic to the participating schools. This not only elevates school facilities but also stands as an inspiring gesture, motivating students to actively participate in waste recycling and environmental protection endeavors.
The "Trash Right" is part of Mondelēz International's sustainable packaging strategy in Southeast Asia. It underscores crucial objectives to promoting awareness about environmental issues, instilling proper waste disposal practices, and advocating for sustainable development within a circular packaging economy.
In Vietnam, the "Trash Right" initiative unfolds as a comprehensive approach aimed at equipping schools with the knowledge and skills essential for the classification and recycling of plastic waste with plans to expand and replicate in the future.
This multifaceted initiative introduces a tailored training program for primary school teachers, enlightening them on recycling and sustainable development. The curriculum imparts knowledge about the significance of reducing, reusing, and recycling, complemented by training on the proper collection and sorting of recyclable waste.
To actively engage students, the initiative incorporates green lessons and captivating games, offering insights into the perils of plastic waste pollution and guiding them on the correct methods of waste classification. Throughout the program, students actively participated in waste classification and collection activities at home, resulting in the sorting and collection of nearly 0.6 tons of waste during the two-day events hosted at the schools.
Furthermore, Mondelez Kinh Do helps establish waste collection and sorting sites within schools, encouraging ongoing active participation from students in this critical process.
