BAT Vietnam promotes effective water management with positive results

In 2024, through extensive efforts in researching water optimization solutions tailored to the company's business model, and continuing its commitment to applying the International Water Stewardship Standards (AWS Standards), BAT Vietnam has achieved several outstanding results in water management as follows:

To achieve the above results, BAT Vietnam has been applying best operational practices while continuously improving to deliver increasingly better outcomes. These approaches include:

  1. Organizing the "Effective and Socially Responsible Water Management Workshop" at the BAT-Vinataba joint venture in January 2024 and the Vina-BAT joint venture in October 2024, with the participation of industry peers from the Dong Nai and Saigon river basins, along with representatives from water supply companies. The aim is to gather valuable insights and experiences from all partners to gradually refine the sustainable water protection plan.
  2. Regularly promoting and conducting sessions on water conservation and environmental protection for employees, encouraging them to propose ideas for water savings, and mobilizing them to participate in community activities.
  3. Implementing the Integrated Working System, launching various initiatives to save water and optimize the amount of reused water through the annual Loss Analysis Program.

Workshop on Sustainable and Socially Responsible Water Management in Business Operations (Vina-BAT, 2024)

With a future-oriented approach, in 2025, we have set the following goals and implementation methods:

  • Reduce total water intensity (m3/millions product sticks) by 2% (compared to 2024 result).
  • Promote effective to increase the water recycle rate strengthen use water after treatment and operating a condensate collection system from the air conditioner system and collecting rainwater for use in cooling tower systems and cleaning activities, this activity will help us save an annual average of more than 9,000 m3 of water from 2 member companies Vina-BAT and BAT-Vinataba.
  • Cooperate with business partners to realize the same goals of effective water resource management and sustainable development in production and business activities.
  • Continue to cooperate with Thai An Company, accompany the Sai Gon Xanh Club for activities to clean up polluted canals, contributing to spreading positive energy to protect water sources and protect the environment to the community in Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Carry out activities to support solar water heater equipment for social shelters in the area.

As a member of the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), BAT Vietnam consistently ensures its contribution to effective and sustainable water management. This commitment underscores our dedication to protecting water resources and meeting corporate environmental responsibilities. Additionally, we collaborate with the Government to build a sustainable socio-economic foundation for Vietnam, striving for A Better Tomorrow.
